The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

I don't understand the obsession with the plus-minus and the use of this statistic to defend Gobert. He has been bad this series, plain and simple (and just so-so against Denver).

But, for the lovers of the plus-minus: for the three games of the Mavericks-Timberwolves series here are the players with significant minutes on the Mavs:

1. Irving +23.
2. Lively +22
3. PJ Washington +17
4. J. Green +13
5. D. Jones +7
6. Doncic +3 (the team went +10 in the few minutes when he did not play)
7. Gafford -8

Are we going to say that Doncic is dragging the Mavs down and is barely holding his own? That in the offseason the Mavs need to look to replace him with someone who would better match the greatness of Lively and PJ Washington?

One big variable with +/- is the opposing team.

For instance, Doncic and Gafford play most of their minutes against Gobert. Irving and Lively got to enjoy a long stretch of minutes in each game without Gobert where they feasted in the paint. So yes, I'd expect those two to have a very good +/-.

Yes, we all saw how helpless Doncic was when defended by Gobert.

Damn, you wasted no time shifting to a disingenuous argument.

Like I posted before:

Wolves DRtg with Gobert on the court this series: 110.6 (elite)
Wolves DRtg with Gobert on the bench this series: 138.9 (historically awful)
Haters gonna hate.

If you’re Minnesota’s gm, out of the 3 bigs you have, there’s 1 that you could see shopped. And it’s definitely not Gobert.

Yeah, I don't see Boston beating this team.
Boston is basically a glorified version of Wolves. A really stong roster built around two very lackluster “star” players(Tatum and Brown). You generally would need at least one MVP caliber player(s) to win championship. Ant/KAT being good but not good enough is what doomed Wolves in this series. Just like how Tatum/Brown inability to deliver at the biggest stage costed Celtics in the past.

The game was on in slide at a BBQ I was at. Checked in now and then. Just saw KAT stinking it up per usual this series.

The Wolves are just a mediocre offense playing against the first great playoff defense they faced.
