The Move Forward Plan - NO TANK DISCUSSION IN THIS THREAD

Embiid is pressuring 76ers FO to make a move for Butler. Maybe they will be able to accomplish part of it...
They need Don to hold out signing the extension. You get the picks from Philly and then reroute them to Cleveland with Herro or Rozier for Donny (plus whatever salary stuff is needed). Cleveland may insist on Jacquez. If Don gets aggressive with Cleveland I can see it being enough to get something done. Otherwise someone likely comes with a better offer.

I saw on Hoopsrumors that Lauri's shoulder impingement is still bothering him so much so he won't play for Finland this summer. This is concerning.

Derozan likely to re-sign with the Bulls, $40M annually. Major impacts on Lavine/Pat/Lonzo. Derozan at $40M puts them right at the tax w/o Pat.

It’s widely assumed that DeRozan, set to become an unrestricted free agent, will re-sign with the Bulls this summer. DeRozan has gushed about his time in Chicago and since the trade deadline in February has reiterated his desire to remain with the Bulls.
But the sticking point between the two sides has long been the parameters of a deal, both the amount of money and the length of the contract.
The Bulls would be happy to re-sign DeRozan on a two-year deal. DeRozan’s side obviously would covet more security. The Bulls have a habit of liberally latching player options into contracts so that carrot could come into play with DeRozan’s deal as well. The dollar amount will be hefty, likely north of $40 million annually, but is less significant to the Bulls’ long-term flexibility. Chicago wants to keep DeRozan but at a reasonable commitment. DeRozan turns 35 this summer and will be in his 15th season in 2024-25.

A league source said the Bulls offered Williams a contract north of $16 million annually when the two sides were negotiating last fall.
That will now be the number to beat for Williams, who is set to become a restricted free agent this summer. But because a season-ending foot injury in January limited Williams to 43 games, he didn’t get the chance to prove his value to be higher.
How much the Bulls value Williams will now be fascinating to watch play out. He was Karnišovas’ first draft selection, picking him fourth in 2020. The front office and coaching staff have supported, and at times defended, Williams through everything from ineffective play to injuries.
Soon comes the moment of truth.

It seems like they would be bidding against themselves if they give Derozan that type of money because I can't imagine anyone else would give him that type of money. He doesn't fit the magic's need for shooting and he is way too old to fit with what the pistons are trying to build unless they just want to get a veteran presence in there. I think he would be a terrible fit with Cade though.

I’m interested in Pat. Definitely not the most amazing player, but if that is what we got out of our cap space I’d be pretty happy about it. I feel like we’re the right type of situation for him.

At 16-17M like they mentioned then I think there’s some upside there… if it gets 25Mish it gets real scary. I would want to know about his personality and work ethic. The stuff we don’t get a lot of insider info on that nba teams would have.

Also... it is crazy that the Bulls will be like $20m over the tax if they keep their mid-*** team together. Vuc/Ball/Lavine make like 85M combined.

Lonzo/Carter + 11 for Yurt - 29/32... Saves them a bunch... use Lonzo as salary ballast in a trade if you find a win-now move in season. Or if he's healthy get him on the court.

If it starts at $25M and lasts 4 years….maybe that’s a little scary, I think something starting around $20M and flat would be a really strong offer for him. There’s always a chance DET drops the big bag on him…but he just doesn’t feel like someone they would go for IMO.

They could find a way to keep Pat by moving Lonzo/Lavine. But if the Jazz aren’t going no to help them it will be much more difficult.

I’d say there’s decent chance we acquire Bulls player this summer one way or another.
