2024 annual Jazzfanz All time jazz draft

I have a thought about that. I really like the concept of using the different eras and the strategy that goes into it, but I hate the early 2000’s. I think it’s the weakest one of all of them, and I rarely get a starting caliber player that I would draft in the first 5 rounds in this thing.

I think this would be a lot better if we did one guy from ‘79 or earlier, one guy from the 80’s, one guy from the 90’s, one modern guy from 2000+, and then a free for all after the 4th pick. Same basic strategy, but a little less stringent and would open up a lot more if the draft, a lot earlier.

Just something to think about.

For me, it's the pre-80s. There are only a handful of players I find good enough to play with modern talent.

Yeah I’ve been doing these draft for 10+ years and found the restrictions in the past few years to be a lot less fun.

Just too much restrictions for me.

We should come up with something better next year.

I would propose first 5 picks has to be x3 from pre 2000, and x2 from post 2000.

That would make it a lot more fun imo.

That’s an interesting one. I also like the idea of drafting anyone you want, whenever you want - but you can only have a maximum of three guys from any one era on your roster at any given time during the draft.

No cheating was done. Players aren’t locked. He still has to draft a 79 and before player with his next pick he’s well within the rules
Alright, but for reference in the original iteration you couldn’t trade your eras picks until you finished your first five picks (and last year the first five players picked were locked) but at this point I don’t care very much, let’s just keep it moving. Just wanted to be sure we knew where we were at.

Wait, so your first five drafted players have to be from the different eras, but your first five acquired players don't have to be? Not sure I really understand that...

Not to say I care or that it's unfair or anything, but don't really understand that distinction.

Said I was taking a laid back approach this year. I specified all you had to do was have your first five pics from the errors that was it, maybe I should’ve explained it better, so sorry for that.

Yea, I think people would just naturally assume first five drafted players to mean first five players period. Now every team will have their five players from five different eras while Elizah has just four and two from the same era.

To put it another way, if Jefe has traded Elizah the draft pick instead of the player, he would not have been able to select Ray Allen.

So @Elizah Huge acquired two 90’s players within his first 5 picks (Duncan and the trade for Ray Allen). What are we doing?
For the sake of the draft moving on my full intent was to swap and put Allen up for trade to not circumvent the rules. Only one person sent an offer for Allen though lol.

That wasn’t included in my op of the signup thread, but I needed to be more clear on it and wasn’t, sorry bout that.

You can make trades too
