Another thing to consider. What if Golden State isn’t down for the super swaps but are down to trade 4 unprotected firsts and 2 regular swaps?
I think if Golden State feels that way then fine but that it underscores the points that I and HH have been making.

In the other package a 2025 pick swap and 2026 first likely aren’t going to be worth much anyways but like I always say anything can happen.
2025 likely won't mean much as a pick or a super swap, sure. I might make that the thing I leave on the table if it gets the deal across the finish line for that reason.

2031 is the only year I think would have a material difference. But because we are taking the whole portfolio of picks I would still set it up even years unprotected, odd years unprotected super swaps at least I'd see it as really close to equal and wouldn't give away other value to washington or GS to free up the pick. Hell pulling Moody/Podz off their roster might create more upside with the picks if those guys were ready to take another step or two. I would not focus on the 2030 issue at all... I'd be trying to get Podz/Moody/Kuminga just so they have more avenues to suck.

You know what, @Handlogten's Heros and @NUMBERICA you have a point and I was probably being too tunneled. I think the part I was overlooking is that you're losing UTA 30 or 31 in either scenario. I think you could argue that it's actually better to have the swap 31 because in theory the Jazz would be on the upswing, so while you are losing UTA 31 by not playing ball with WAS you are gaining UTA 30 at the risk of losing 21-30.

No WAS:

Lose - Worst of 29, UTA 31, 21-30 GSW 30

With WAS

Lose - Worst of 25 (bc sweetener to WAS), UTA 30

But GSW gets to retain some value in the different scenarios soo....yeah. I get what you're saying. Max pick value probably includes WAS (it's about the same), but If it costs us Podz/Moody...leave the WAS part out. The upside is the same in both scenarios.

I think GS is actually being foolish if they give us all the picks. They have hit the lotto a few times and Steph is older and has more miles. I think they are a Steph 25 game absence from the play in... especially if we swipe Podz in the deal with them. I would not discount the chance that the 25 swap provides some boost and the 25 or 26 could end up in the lotto if only a couple things go wrong.

And the other thing is its a small obligation to washington but it still means there is a third party involved. Just the more parties involved the harder it is to get something to the goal line. If the Wiz saw this happening and came to us or GS and wanted very little to clean up the obligation then that is one thing. If you are lining up a deal and going to them then it gets a little hairy.

2026 is an interesting year in these discussions. Having a pick swap is basically useless and could just get left out because unless Golden State finished in the top-7 AND higher than us it’s quite literally useless.

Golden State’s potential offer of 25/27/29/31 firsts plus two or three swaps beats New York’s package for Bridges without even getting to any additional players.
That's something I've been trying to drive at, I think it behooves the interest of all parties to sneak value out of this because if it's a headline grabber GSW is straight up going to be less likely to do it, so do the thing that is as good or better but not a headline grabber.

Also, Golden State can’t even trade their 2025 first unprotected can they? They traded 2024 already.

Couple this with my post above and the package including 26/28/30 firsts and swaps in 25/27/29/31 makes a lot more sense for us.

Great discussion here.
