I might make a separate thread about it…but there are definitely some good dump opportunities out there. I’m guessing that teams would prefer to dump to DET instead…but there’s really only us and them. Might be some trade exceptions out there that also get the job done.

Yeah. I’d like to see others thoughts on salary dump options. I could see the Jazz package their cap space with a player like Sexton, Collins or Clarkson to maximize the value of the assets coming back as well.
I’ll try to get around to it. There’s some teams that could have a desire to dump in order to get below the tax, get below the second apron, or simply just save on a fat stack of money. From my scan last night I found more than a handful of teams that could be highly motivated to do something.

No, he fortunately got it finished last year. Perhaps he got some special treatment in the end because his service time was a few weeks short even if the FIBA world cup was counted in.

Yes me too. He got it all done, that is a fact which was reported without explanations. I don't know if he even visit the military grounds after the FIBA world cup.
He expressed frustation over his physical condition and level of play during and after the FIBA world cup and said that he would have done many things differently without the military service.
As a pure speculation, maybe he decided to focus solely in his own training for the remaining of the last offseason (and go back this year if he must) and the military decided to play ball, so to speak - maybe they officially "ordered" him to do his own training or something like that. If I remember right, he had already been hiking in Utah with the Jazz organization when he was officially released from the military.
In any case, the military service is in the past and I'm curious to see how Lauri will look after having had a proper offseason training camp again.

I think there are 2 possible scenarios:
Scenario 1
The fact that he made it very public (in videos and interviews, etc) that he had to go back to do the military service and basically made the military and by extension the Finnish government as a whole very embarrassed. It’s very archaic in this day and age to have compulsory military training/service anywhere in the world.
Finnish government was left with a red face and ordered the military to end his training somehow, and they did just that quietly.
Scenario 2
Lauri offered to make a “donation” to the military and/or its official to the tune of $1m (he could afford it with the new extension). The military and/or it’s official gladly accepted and everybody’s happy.
Which of the scenarios above do you think is the more likely of the 2?
