I was surprised Mathews had such a poor showing, he had some open shots from 3pt land and just missed them.
Also not sure why people can't somewhat agree on the 4th Qtr, yes Portland mostly took jumpers and that worked out well for the Jazz obviously (other then Batum's 3's) but why did they start taking jumpers. Was it because they felt they would win, they didn't want to win or was it the Jazz started playing more aggressive and Porty didn't fight through it and settled for jumpers?

I am going with it is a combination of what you said minus them not wanting it.
There seem to be a few posters that are very invested in making sure no one gives any compliments to Kanter. ever. not sure what the agenda is.
was he solely responsible for cooling LA down? no. did he play great team and individual defense throughout? absolutely.
it was a great team win and Kanter was a part of it. he still has a lot to improve on, but heaven forbid a few fans get encouraged by his growth/ability.

They are mad/dissappointed/upset...that we have Kanter and not their personal chosen favorite. So the bash him to make him look worse.

Happens every year, heck it even happened to DWill, I'm sure some may remember some people wanted CP or Jarrett Jack over him and the first 2yrs would look to down grade him any chance they got.
*No I'm not comparing or saying Kanter will be as good or bad in anyway shape or form as DWill*

I think it was combination of things and it started in 3quarter. Problem with that was poor play by Felton and Crawford who started jacking jumpers - did they believed the game is over or is this their style of play? I dunno. Nate could not get his team under control it was very obvious in second half, I think it really helped the Jazz that he stuck with Crawford/Felton combo most of the time when Jazz closed the gap. When team struggles you try to get easy points, layup, free throws - something like that and all Blazers did where jacking perimeter shots.
Being realistic about what happened in the game (while complimenting Kanter, but not being ridiculous) = bashing?

Portland is a jumpshooting team, that is their game. They were going inside to start the game because we let them and didn't show much energy. The energy picked up late in the third. The Jazz also started packing it in when they tried going in which is why Batum had all those wide open three's.

Portland took their foot off the gas assuming The Jazz would just flame out being they were short handed. When The Jazz stepped up the pressure on D they had no answer.

I hope Kanter becomes more than Scola/Perkins, because sadly Favors is looking a lot like Kwame Brown, or maybe with some intense skill building a Derrick Coleman. Did anyone else notice Ty yelling at Favors and throwing his hands up in frustration? There were a series of plays near the end of the 3rd (maybe beginning of 4th) that Favors really displayed a lack of heart and effort. You can't teach height, but can Ty teach effort and competitiveness?
It started when Favors got the ball in the high post, the guard passing in front swiped at the ball, so Favors pulled it back, but he hung the ball out away from his body and the Blazer defender (Aldridge or Camby) slapped it out of his hands. The ball is loose, the Blazers are all scrambling for it and Favors takes one step towards the ball then casually walks to the other end. He didn’t even make an attempt to get the ball or stop the Blazers transition. It was like he was in practice waiting for the coaches to fetch the ball and reset the walk through. Sad.
Then later in the Blazers possession, or possibly their next possession Favors gets the rebound or is close to it at the bottom left of the floor. The rest of the team is off and running the out-let pass is made to the pg and Favors is still standing there, then casually looks down the floor. Coach Corbin is going nuts yelling at him and waving his arms in the direction of the ball. Favors realizes his mistake but it is too late.
Kanter is substituted for Favors at the next dead ball and plays to the end of the game.
