This story is really sad. I feel for these families who are now dealing with all of the senseless deaths. Mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers. Just so sad.

I really hope that this isn’t a continuation of the chaos and death we saw the last time we gave this teevee president the keys to the White House. Good leaders are smart, empathetic, and stable. Not exactly attributes that the pretend President possesses. These federal jobs are often thankless jobs. These people are overworked and under compensated. Hope this was just an accident but worry this is going to be a trend due to the lack of funding, instability, and chaos that this type of leadership generates.

One thing Trump is not going to do is visit the water. Because only two things happen on the water. Either you get electrocuted by electric boat batteries or the sharks eat you.

They would be the attributes of:
  1. Being the one actually flying the helicopter
  2. Being off course from where she should have flown the helicopter
  3. Flying the helicopter above the maximum allowed altitude and into the designated glide path of the nearby airport.
The woman driver of that helicopter killed a lot of people. It isn't a mystery as to why the family doesn't want her name well known.

Why would her gender matter? Why are trumpers emphasizing this?

I’d focus on Donald’s leadership. Did the hiring freeze and chaos he’s put our federal government into impact this?

Shouldnt we revisit the traffic over DC? There are other airports nearby. Can’t folks fly into Baltimore and ride a train into DC? Can’t we lighten the load into DC by diverting air traffic (at least during certain parts of the night) elsewhere? Don’t these military helicopters have collision warning systems? Seems to me that most of our sedans have something like that, don’t military helicopters?

Just seems to me like there are other issues we should be focusing on rather than the race and gender of pilots. Then again, I still possess all of my teeth, have never beaten a police officer, and don’t support Trump and his obsession with white nationalism.

Nope. Trump had been in office for a week and his Transportation Secretary had been in office for only a few hours. The area has been massively understaffed, as documented in the Inspector General, with 100% of the responsibility for crisis of FAA staffing being on the shoulders of Pete Buttigieg.

Pete Buttigieg was a DEI hire, as pointed out many times here in the board as to why you lot think he can't win a national election on his own merits.

I agree.

In general we should stop expecting politicians to go to disaster sites. There are some occasions where it might be beneficial, but probably not most of the time.

I think the practice of going to disaster sites was one pushed by politicians or their PR person to get a good photo-op or backdrop for a hopefully moving speech. It has never had anything to do with them helping at the scene or forcing them to see the devastation first hand so that they feel more compelled to do something about it.
