Shooting at protest in SLC

Yeah it was pretty tragic but there was also the potential for a major mass shooting event in SLC that didn't happen.
Absolutely. The "peacekeeper" is going to have nightmares for the rest of their life, but if they hadn't acted, the death toll could have been huge.

And now trumpers are criticizing the peacekeeper. We finally have one of those "good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun" stories that they usually love yet because they are anti protesting trump, they are now anti good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun in this scenario.

This is mind-boggling. Anything to twist the truth into whatever reality protects Dear Leader the best. Even when the truth directly supports Dear Leader, nothing is as powerful as the lie can be.

Yeah they wish the guy with the AR-15 was able to kill as many of the protesters as he had bullets.

Sounds like there's video and the guy's gun was down when he and the innocent bystander were shot. With so many people around there's probably other video to see if it was justified.

There are images of Gamboa from other prior SLC protests where he is open carrying probably the same rifle. He did not commit a mass shooting those days.Maybe the Police should do the job of policing and not an untrained "peacekeeper"?Being in the military does not necessarily qualify someone to do what he was trying to do. Open carry laws are real and it appears that Gamboa may have been exercising his rights like others were that day.

It is shaping up to be another situation like Kyle Rittenhouse. This kid was exercising his right to open carry and a couple of self-styled fake cops decided to open fire. Why can't they just let the police do the policing.

Um can I just ask a question, why is a guy showing up to a politically charged environment, where the possibility of violence is palpable, with a ****ing assault rifle? Now thankfully I live in a country where you see a guy with a gun downtown, you run. (unless its a cop and then you just walk briskly and pretend you're not planning on buying or taking drugs...) Seeing a civilian with a gun, away from farmland or a shooting range is incredibly rare and almost always illegal. Seems to work pretty well for public safety.

Because freedom!

Duh

Without assault rifle tootin civilians around, this country might elect an autocrat and quickly devolve into a corrupt autocracy where politicians are fearful for their lives, law enforcement act like thugs and disappear people without due process, and citizens lose their freedoms.

Guns and unfettered access to them is the only thing protecting our freedom! Shootings at protests and mass death at schools and movie theaters is the price we must pay for living in the best most freedomest country on earth! USA USA USA!

Lets not forget your East German border guards, refusing entry to tourists for whatever they feel like.

Read a story the other day that the US is on course to lose 65 billion in tourism this year. I imagine that will only get worse, the consequences for the airlines, hospitality and tourism sector are going to be huge as this continues.

I have read that the guy with the assault rifle was there with his rifle to protect people. Which, ironically is the reason why the person who shot him was there with a gun as well.
I saw the video of the shooting and the guy with the rifle is wearing all black and walking towards the protesters from a different area. If I had no idea of this situation (no hindsight) then I would have thought the dude with the rifle was headed to shoot a bunch of protesters.

Ya, probably shouldn't be going to these events with rifles. Even if you plan to be peaceful and kind and are a good guy, it might be better to be a peaceful, kind, good guy without your rifle. The rifle kind of automatically makes you look less peaceful than you want to look imo.
