he can absolutely be a standout defender.Rashard Lewis is the guy I'm hoping he can develop into - probably a bit more creation but a bit worse pure shooter. Not really a standout defender, but not a problem either.

He was a plus defender at Rutgers according to tankathon. Teams leading rebounder and shot blocker. Hes got the tools. His on off splits on defense we’re good.Rashard Lewis is the guy I'm hoping he can develop into - probably a bit more creation but a bit worse pure shooter. No he wasntI don't see anything close to TMac with defensive upside.
McGrady's handle/athleticism were so much better than what I'm seeing from Ace I can't even begin to see the comparison.
No he wasnt
Your version of TMac is after he became what he became. Ace's skill set today is as good or better than TMac's coming into the draft in '97.Wasn't what?

Yes, that is standardly how NBA comps work, folks compare them to who they could be in the NBA.
And don't pretend you remember TMac as a prospect. Nobody here knows anything about what TMac looked like as a prospect in the mid 90s, even NBA teams could barely scout high schoolers at that point. Fans only had 2nd/3rd hand reports, 99% had never seen Tracy McGrady play a single game before he was drafted.
Yeah but once you start doing things that “appears” to “manage” him, that’s a slippery slope.Usually I'm not one to say these kind of things, but I do think we need to invest in a veteran that Ace respects and have them in the locker room. Even if it's just someone like Jeff Green or Joe Ingles.
