What's new

Utah Jazz Select Walter Clayton Jr, Pick 18 (Trade)

I think people should picture WCJ in a Sexton like role vs a starting point guard role. I posted this in the other thread, but even though they have very different games, the results are very similar. WCJ is not a natural playmaker, and probably not someone that you would want playing point guard, especially when surrounded by other non play makers.

Small and old. But I’m actually kind of comfortable with him cuz he’s small and old. Got drafted pretty well in spite of that. Like getting a hungry, scrappy state school kid at daddies private equity.

This is interesting. His balance / body control does remind of D-Will. Has the same ability to pull up from anyone and square his body towards the rim mid-air.
Has exact same measurements as curry. 6’2” barefoot, 6’4” wingspan, 8’1” standing reach, but weighs 20 lbs heavier and a year older.

One thing I remember was the warriors were super high on Devin Booker when he came out. Can’t find the article that I read ten years ago, but the front office was very complimentary of him before the draft, knowing he wouldn’t be available to them.

Watching him the first player I thought of was Steph.

Not a natural playmaker, but a natural leader and someone who can can manage an offense in a way Sexton doesnt do. End of the day he's a potential elite shooter, and you want to those players starting if they can hold their own in the other facets.

I think it's fine to hope for that, but not fair to expect it.

Most likely WCJ plays a similar role as Sexton, bench scorer or guard you play next to another point/combo guard.
