The *OFFICIAL* Russia Is About To Invade Ukraine Thread


Putin has no reason to acquiesce at this point. Having made zero concessions, he has been rewarded with a grand summit in Alaska, the dropping of a demand by Trump to sign onto a ceasefire before peace talks, and the crumbling of all sanctions ultimatums to date. Having slightly dialed down the scale of nightly drone attacks on Ukrainian cities so far in August, Russia ramped them up again Monday night, firing 270 drones and 10 missiles. If Trump’s pressure on Zelensky hasn’t yet yielded the results Moscow wants, there’s always military force to fall back on.

The only wild card for Russia at this point is who Trump will blame when this latest peace effort fails.

He doesn't blame really anymore, he just ignores it like it wasn't mentioned at all

Trump: "great peace summit, I'm the best deal maker ever, big win for me and for Ukraine but mostly for me"
Anyone with a brain: "you didn't get anything done, there is no deal, Putin is getting everything he wants, Ukraine is losing everything"
Trump: "yep, best deal ever, biggest win for Ukraine and for me, no one could have done a deal this big and this great. Biggest win"

Wash, rinse, and repeat. Then as soon as Trump's 2nd assertion is pronounced, his cult picks it up, and that's all they care about. So he doesn't even need blame at all, just speaks the falsehood into existence. That's all it takes. The verbal equivalent of drawing the path of the hurricane with a sharpie.

Yeah, I’ve long described Trump as simply talking his reality into existence. How he actually pulled it off will be studied for years. That’s in a rational future, where we emerge from a fascist ****show somehow. In a Trumpian future, a Project 2025 America future, statues everywhere, lol. To be torn down by future patriotic mobs. Maybe.

The verbal equivalent to saying he had no business in Russia when Michael Cohen was actively working on a trump tower deal in Moscow. The verbal equivalent to stopping the tests so that covid infection numbers would go down. The verbal equivalent to stopping the election ballot counting to keep from losing an election. The verbal equivalent to firing the head of labor statistics when the job numbers weren’t what he liked.

It’s the same damn thing over and over and over again. Yet so many Americans are bored, ripe with tribalism, and aggrieved that they keep falling for it because he preys on their prejudices.
