Jackpotting Around - The Great Walker Kessler Debate

Finally got to it. Great episode. The debate was basically perfect about Walker. I sincerely hope someone in the FO ever checks these out.

Eliza brought up some great points but I’m more with HH on the matter. I hope we see a sub-$30/per extension inked before the deadline.

IF that is the case then move Walker (shrug).

IHart definitely fits the bill of who Hardy prefers as a C offensively. He'd rather have his C playmake and do dribble handoff stuff at the elbows rather than be a roll/cut kind of guy. I think IHart fantastic player and one I'd love to have on the Jazz. If he's who they want (or someone similar to him) I get it. But if the Jazz weren't sold on Kessler they should have already traded him.

At this point, I'm just hoping we engage in a trade with SAC or NOP and maybe Kessler is in play. Ellis + Kings picks is a pretty juicy trade package. Would it make sense for them? No, but Kangz.

The guy running stuff in NO loves bigs. I could see that lol.

Yeah... I get having preferences... why suck all the value out of Kessler's contract to simply go "meh" when it comes to contract time.

Our process here sucks. Hopefully it doesn't cost us too much.

I get that luck plays a huge factor into things, but I can't say I'm impressed with how things have gone process wise Not having a good, cohesive plan on the big or small things has been a big part of that. I think acquiring Kessler and Lauri through the Rudy and Don trades respectively has been the biggest positives with the new rebuild and regime. Give them credit, of course, for getting them....but let's not kid ourselves and think that they targeted those guys specifically in trades and that's why they're here.

Tbh, the track record these past few years is some bad and a whole lot of mid. In many ways the Kessler situation is a microcosm of the past few years. No direction, plan, or idea of how to move forward with a player/asset. It feels like we're just constantly waffling and making the situation worse for everyone involved. It's a bad sign that I think one of the better things to happen was nepo baby ripping off the bandaid and doing what his father would not do.

Yeah the opportunistic route works if the right opportunity comes. The biggest mistake was simply not selling off enough stuff the year we traded Rudy and Don.

We could have still had great process... and no luck/opportunity but it would feel better with a more concrete plan. This "we don't trade anyone for less than exactly what we demand" rule we live by will end up less in the cupboard in a couple years... unless we finally get lucky while retaining Lauri/Walker etc.

Overall I still see us as just reactive. Even baby Ainge's "you won't see that again" stuff is an overreaction.
