Walter Clayton Jr. Hype Thread

I still got WCJ as Steph/Stockton lite. He's a proven champion, he'll adjust to the NBA. Also as on draft day I still have Brice as the best player from our 2023 draft over Hendricks and Keyonte. Interested to see how they all play this season, along with Ace.

WCJ looked good for the most part. He was a little hesitant but generally kept the ball moving and flowing. Also had some quick hands and some nice transition stuff. Thought good stuff happened when he was in.

That's interesting how different people can come up with very different impressions after watching the same games. To me Keyonte looked much more PG-ish in his two preseason games. I think he reaslly progressed in this department and now is capable to make quite a variety of passes and reads. WCJ showed that he can score but I am still waiting to see his actual ability to run the team. Of course, it was just two games but expected a bit more from a 22-year old PG with 4 years of college experience.

Also, Key looks to be more explosive and taller. I am actually starting to believe that he may become a serviceable PG in a couple of years.

Haha, bro.

Seems like intel was there were other teams ahead of Jazz that were going to take Clayton
Jazz had to move up to get him
i aint paying to move up the line at mcdonalds when i can go to five guys instead. i don't see it. he's undersized and plays like it. he'll have a hard time getting that great shot off when he can't shoot over his defender and doesn't look like a natural playmaker. i'm saying it here: trey burke 2.0

Keyonte doesn't often beat people off the dribble and get into the paint. He doesn't put pressure on the rim or collapse the defense. His shooting when he's on the ball also hasn't been consistent enough to draw defenders out. So in that sense, he isn't an 'advantage creator.' I don't consider WCJ an advantage creator either for many of the same reasons. WCJ at least forces defenders over screens. I think WCJ still looks more like a backup longterm, but I guess we'll see.

Agree to disagree. Seen it many times in the 2 pre season games this year and many times in the past 2 years.

I think what the Jazz want is to bring in a big guard or wing who initiates, which then makes either Keyonte or WCJ more of an off-ball player and secondary playmaker. Obviously, Darryn Peterson would be amazing.

looks like all the WCJ naysayers are doubling down
I have been a naysayer and I'm doing the opposite.

I'm an optimist and a homer though.

I was hating on keyonte alot the past 2 seasons and I might be his biggest cheerleader since the end of last season lol
