My favorite players to watch currently (excluding Lauri) are Collier and Ace. I had kind of written Collier off but he has been great and is really likeable.

Wish I could watch Hendricks. And I know he has sucked this season. Still wish I could watch him play anyways.

Also, I wish Clayton could still get minutes. Logjam with collier back though.

That pissed me off. I spent way too much time rewinding and then fast forwarding trying to figure out how to see what I missed. I thought it might have just been my tv/antenna or whatever. Nice to know it wasn't just me at least.
 
Probably mentioned plenty of time already but Ace has a really quick release.
Kinda seems too quick. But its going in.

Same.

The main job of the guards on this current team should be to get the ball to Lauri and Ace especially during the 4th quarter in close games. They also need to be willing to defend the 3 pt shot on the defensive end. Collier obviously has his warts when it comes to shooting but checks all the other boxes.
 
The pace of this game was absolutely crazy. It wasn't actually that bad of a defensive game....relatively. 121.7 defensive rating when the other team shoots 50% isn't half bad for us.
 
I laughed early in the game when thurl was talking about how the jazz problem was with their offense and how they had played good defense. Meanwhile, the hawks were shooting like 75% from 3 at the time.
Then after thinking about it a bit I kind of actually found myself agreeing with him. They were playing a lot of good defense for long stretches of possessions but just making little mistakes at the end of shot clocks and allowing the hawks to score. But the jazz were making the hawks work hard and use much of the clock before ending with good shot that to their credit, they were making every single time.

For me, this is part of a more general discussion about disallowing or disrupting players' rhythm—whether that a rhythm of shooting wide-open threes from their preferred places, or a rhythm in running a particular screen to gain an advantage, etc. Good defenses take away any rhythm, even if its part of using a possession in some "low value" way. The late-Synder era was miserable at this.

Lauri so far this year: 29 points and 6 rebounds. 48%, 39%, 89%. 35 minutes. Career high free throw attempts per game (6.6). Nothing much in the way of assists, steals, blocks, or turnovers.
He is about the perfect Robin. Maybe even the best Robin in the league. Would be amazing if we could have drafted Wemby. Might be competing for a title this season.

Spurs should be offering Harper and a decent amount of picks imo. They have Fox and Castle. Dont need harper at all. Lauri would catapult them

We're going to be getting Ron Holland, Tobias Harris, Duncan Robinson/Caris Levert and like 1-2 picks. Please do not set the expectations in this pseudo hard cap era of getting a potential superstar prospect with four years left on his rookie contract.

No one has any idea if Lauri Markkanen can play playoff defense and he's on a max.

Yeah cuz the Ainges have shown such a willingness to sell low on all stars
 
Lauri's contract goes from a slight negative a overwhelming positive if he's averaging 29 PPG. The jazz aren't going to trade him for anything short of the same kind of package we got for Gobert/Mitchell.

yeah, that's tough. we could quibble over whether or not they SHOULD include Harper in a deal, but there is zero chance that they will. teams always overvalue their young draftees, especially when they show some of the promise Harper has shown this season.

I mean, 14, 4 and 4 in 23 minutes a game on 50/36/83 splits. those numbers are better than stephon castle last year who was not only rookie of the year, but we see how good he's been this year. and as good as Castle has been, he's still at 23% from three. Harper already at 36% from three might be a rich man's Castle. It would be hard to trade that.

should they? maybe. will they? no chance in hell.

Okay, then they won't trade him because Lauri's injury history and lack of playoff experience are too much for any team to give up more than what I mentioned. If he turns out to be a switch victim in the postseason, your future is immediately dead if you give up four picks and one prospect for him.

It's funny cause I always check box scores and multiple times this season can't even find Harper listed. Not even listed as dnp (for whatever reason)
Has he missed games due to injury this season?

This. We are absolutely at the point where the only Lauri trade that will happen is the one another team shouldn't do.

Literally everything I have heard outside of Zach Lowe is that they aren't moving him. Before the season and during the season. We likely manage his minutes/games on the back half of the season or as injuries dictate. We land around 5th-ish in odds (I'd prefer 4th) and hope to get lucky. From there we move towards being competitive.

If Lauri is traded it will be because we were bowled over and I doubt that happens.
