Cody Williams Hype and Appreciation Thread

We're not losing games because of Cody's 2.3 missed fga and 0.4 to. There might be something to the playing 4 on 5, but so far it hasn't been an issue. Cody currently has the 6th highest offensive rating on the team and 7th highest net rating.

Cody simply doesn't impact anything right now, winning or losing. He's not our tank commander. He shouldn't be getting minutes.
How has it not been an issue? You have eyes right? Regardless of the results, the offensive flow is clearly hampered by having Cody on the court, and especially so when Cody and Collier are on at the same time.

He absolutely was last night, but it was against by far the best defense in the league. Up until the game last night we had a 120ortg with Cody on the court, which means he wasn't negatively impacting our offense.

Maybe teams weren't playing off him enough and we see that in the future. Could happen, but up until last night our offense had been very good with him on the court.

Small sample size means nothing. Maybe someone just had a hot hand when he was on the court. Maybe they got fast breaks, etc

Probably, sure. He certainly wasn't helping the offense be good. The point still stands that in almost every game he's played in this year he hasn't been the primary reason for us losing games.

To me, it seems, at least in part, a mental/confidence issue with Cody. Not sure how much that contributes to his struggles. I’d play him the rest of the season before deciding what to do with him. And like our other young guys, he’s good for the tank.
Mental issue.. sure. But ask yourself this: is it about his mindset or personality? Only one is theoretically fixable.

People around this sport often talk about a player having "dawg" in them. What is Codys "dawg level" from 1 to 10?

Yeah, he’s got no business on an NBA floor at this point.

G League him for the rest of the season, see if he can adopt a more aggressive mentality.

Realistically he looks like an overseas role player.

Well, since you seem to put a lot of faith in the OFRTG and DEFRTG at this point... Cody Williams currently has a higher offensive rating then Lauri, but Markkanen (together with Flip and Nurkic) has a much higher DEFRTG. I think we need either to get rid of this inefficient offensive player Markkanen or tell him to focus more on defense, where he truly shines - while Cody can power the Jazz offense alongside Harkless (who has the 2nd highest offensive rating).

Yeah, I kind of see what you mean here. But what about Kawhi's personality?

I wonder if Cody gets to play in the middle of the floor in the G league and suddenly his offense looks better. He seems really uncomfortable playing out of the corners.
