take guys who don't know the offense and have them try to integrate right away. probably gonna lose that game in spite of their talent. (that's why?)Why the rush?

All that money (and the perception of the resume behind it) can lead to feelings like "These ****ers still don't believe", etc. etc. Money rarely 'solves' anything entirely; in my experience, it's often better to think about how money transforms problems (yes, easing them in many instances) rather than solving them. Anywhoo...I feel like for $200,000,000, chips on the shoulders shouldn't be necessary.
Yeah they ate the chips so all they got is crumbs on the shoulder.I feel like for $200,000,000, chips on the shoulders shouldn't be necessary.
Remember we have the Kessler-KO-Lauri triple tower experiences and they went fairly well IIRC. Its a bit different now as all 3 can shoot.I do think it's important to see Lauri/JJJ/Nurk together just to see how a big 3 lineup would work.
Worse than 4 years of tanking would be giving up right before the payoff. Instead we had 4 years of sucking without actively tanking. Using all our capital on a second or third tier star who is not capable of being a #1 option and then ending up as a team fighting to land between play in and home court. I hope I am wrong by I am just concerned that the Jazz were not truly prepared to tank. I thought the tank was about getting a true #1 option to pair with Laurie, someone who could lead the team to a championship. Chances are at least 50/50 that the Jazz are now stuck in mediocrity because when they decided to tank they put a half assed effort into it. Of the 4 years they maybe tanked 1. 4 years of tanking is what I expected. This year the Jazz won too many close games and it is going to cost us. All I am saying is finish the dang job. Don't go about it half assed. I hope I am wrong and even more I hope we win they lottery as a reward for not tanking. The NBA hates tanking and has said the Jazz did it the right way. If that is the case, reward them for it. Or at least let the odds of the Jazz never moving up and winning a lottery draw or coin flip balance out for it this year. What's worse than losing four years in a row on purpose, destroying player's careers and taking all the fun out of basketball? Will someone come and spread feces on me?
It was not.
How many tanking years would have satisfied you? 6? 8? 10? 20?
100% agree but limit their minutesI do think it's important to see Lauri/JJJ/Nurk together just to see how a big 3 lineup would work.
The 2023-24 struggles were definitely on both ends. Collins played like a tweener center and was constantly sliding towards the paint, occupying the same space as Kessler on both ends.Wk-JC-LM was horrible in the 24 season but not too bad in the 25 season. A lot of those ‘24 struggles were on defense. I would say that’s not necessarily something to worry about, but you never know with Will Hardy coached defense.

That trio was -18.2 in net rating that year with abysmal 104.8 oRTG and 123 dRTG. Hardy called that whole thing off before midway point of the year and even said they cant play together.
Next year they played over twice as many minutes together and were 115.5 oRTG and 111.8 dRTG which was the best (and 3rd most used) 3 man lineup with Kessler and Lauri.
Good thing JJJ can and will play on the perimeter much more, and who knows maybe Kessler can actually now shoot some.
Agreed. That was the Kessler down year, so I would not solely put it on fit of that trio. He played much more timid that whole season compared to his rookie year or 3rd year. For sure, I was just saying that a lot of those struggles were on defense which is the not where you'd necessarily think it would struggle. When Hardy talked about the decision to bench Kessler he talked about it being an offense focused thing, and the offense was struggling, but the defense was also very bad.
The Jazz did absolutely every filthy thing, and did it again just last night. They're no better than anyone else or on some moral high groung - quite the opposite. The NBA hates tanking and has said the Jazz did it the right way. If that is the case, reward them for it. Or at least let the odds of the Jazz never moving up and winning a lottery draw or coin flip balance out for it this year.
