Official Game Thread: "Uh oh, it's Magic" at Jazz...Saturday, 4/21, 8:30pm MT

He had some defensive lapses in the first half,

...laughing

but overall, his defense has improved dramatically from the time he first arrived in Utah.

actually, I'd say it has gotten worse. He's been especially bad since the All-Star break. He's probably one of the worst PnR defenders in the league. he doesn't do any one part well.

Thanks, though.

Jefferson's game is evolving into something that the haters thought would never happen. He is such a key for Utah. I am more convinced than ever that the future of the Utah Jazz involves starting Jefferson, Favors, and Millsap alongside each other. IMO Sap has proven he can man the 3 and that line-up seems to thrive whenever Ty goes with it.

Normally, I do not hate on Al after a victory, but Al was beyond abysmal on the defensive end tonight. Nearly every single offensive play for the Magic was run through Al Jefferson's man picking someone. I'm telling you that it's not even close if Jefferson doesn't play. Millsap, Favors, and Kanter defend the pick and roll too well. It's funny that this game had the exact opposite effect on me. I want him gone yesterday.

Favors and Millsap on the floor together tonight were very good. Jefferson's defense was pathetic most of the game. Carrolle looked terrible tonight. And Harris got outplayed by both Jameer and Tinsley. Though Harris did make some great plays down the stretch and in overtime. Kanter and Burks were both pretty good. And Hayward was just okay. He was invisible most of the night but made a big shot in OT. And his defense was pretty good even though Richardson was hot.

I said it above, but Al escapes one of his worst performances of the year because of a couple of shots late in the game. He was atrocious all night. And, not efficient on the offensive end either.

Al in the 1st and 3rd was eclipsed by Al late in the 4th. I'm sorry but when the chips were down the dude delivered. Al J is a maddening player sometimes but he is so much better than last year's Al.

I don't see Al as a likely future piece but clutch matters.

So... he made s*** soup for dinner, but at least he put enough salt in it.

So Al's horrible HORRIBLE defense and ball hogging that had us down by 14 in the first quarter is outweighed by the fact he gave an assist to end the game instead of chucking over a double team!

Thank god for NAOS.

If Al could move his feet, the chips would never even have been on the line.

This. Even the ESPN announcers said that Jameer Nelson was abusing the Jazz high PnR defense tonight. They were a little too dumb to realize that it was mostly against Jefferson, but they try.

I'm scared of what Steve Nash will do to the Jazz with Gortat/Nash pick and rolls. Good thing Channing Frye is out.

This to the millionth power. Both of you obviously watched the entire game. The game plan for the Magic was abuse Al Jefferson all game long. It was rarely Al's man that made the shot, but he could not help on picks at all.

I think all the 3's they hit put us down in the 1st. We still shot like 55% from the field that quarter. Those aren't all Al's fault. Millsap failed to get a rebound in the 1st also.
