Good luck, and more power to them.

Anonymous Launches Operation Cannabis 420

The Legion of Lulz is wading into America's newly reignited Weed War and building a two-front opposition to marijuana prohibition. On one hand, the collective is organizing marches and demonstrations around the world on October 1st. And, on the other, in classic Anon fashion, the group is also collecting personal information on those it refers to as "narco-warriors" to later release.

Greetings from Anonymous and Team Vendetta,

As many are aware, Operation Cannabis 420 is a grass roots effort to bring all who use cannabis together for the purpose of legalization. Our efforts have been largely successful in terms of raising awareness and getting the word out. Our video and press releases for Operation Cannabis 420 - Phase 1 have reached countless numbers of people thanks to the internet and the pro-cannabis media. The support we have garnered for this operation is better than we could have dreamed.

Now, we would like to welcome you all to Operation Cannabis 420 - Phase 2! In this phase of the operation we will be focusing on two objectives: 1) Organizing several worldwide marches for cannabis legalization, the first of which is scheduled for October 1st (some of you may live in countries where the 1st falls on a Monday and might need to march a day sooner) and 2) Bringing to the forefront the "narco-warriors" (as they have come to be known). These are primarily the police unions, the private prison contractors, big pharmaceutical companies, the alcohol and tobacco industries, the corporate lobbyists for these organizations and the politicians who accept payoffs to legislate in their favor. These are the people who have a financial stake in keeping cannabis illegal, and are willing to spread lies, incarcerate cannabis users and ruin people's lives. No more. We are calling them out and will not rest day or night until they end their unjust war on cannabis users.

This is a wake up call. Every single person who uses cannabis and every single person who supports our right to do so must take a stand now. We have too many people languishing in jail for marijuana "offenses". We have too many people who are still ignorant to the facts of this miracle drug. It has been shown that THC can actually kill brain cancer cells, and also slow the rate of regeneration. It's been proven that cannabis is extremely beneficial to cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy. These are just some of the benefits we are being denied because of the sleazy activity of a greedy minority.

Join us as we venture to put a stop to this once and for all. Organize an October 1st march for cannabis in your city/town. Talk to everyone. Make people aware. This fight could be won by simple math alone. We have far greater numbers. It's time to put them to use.

Sincerely, Team Vendetta

They're about to pass a law in NJ decriminalizing possession of up 14 grams of marijuana.

In Texas I think 14 grams gets you 80 years in jail.

But that's how it's going to happen, gradually on the state and local level. Petitioning the federal government is a waste of time.

Funny, I was thinking of starting a "Legalize it?" poll thread earlier and then you posted this. I'd be interested to know if there is a majority on Jazzfanz for legalization of marijuana. Seems like a no-brainer to me, but yet there are still hundreds of thousands of people in prison who's only offense is possession of marijuana.

I'm with you on this one Salty

I am not a user and I never will be.

Having said that there is no difference between alcohol and marijuana to me. Legalize it and tax it. Sell it in stores and apply DUI laws to it.

eh? Alcohol kills, cannabis does not. That alone seems like a pretty big difference to me.
Not to mention most alcohol is manufactured, cannabis grows naturally.

Not saying everything that occurs naturally in nature is always good for everyone. Just pointing out that you have to go out of your way to make alcohol, which is legal, and cannabis is a natural, living, organism that is illegal.

Get high and get behind the wheel of a car and I bet you risk your life just the same. Even using your logic that is all the more reason to legalize it.

No, you don't risk your life "all the same" as alcohol. We've been over this already in another thread, lol. There are lots of studies that prove it is not even close to the same as alcohol as far as driving goes.

I can't find the other thread now, but if I recall correctly your arguments there did not fully convince me.

I don't care to revisit this particular argument in any depth, but driving drunk is a hell of a lot more dangerous than driving high. Alcohol kills in a slew of other ways, whereas cannabis does not.

I hate taking the cannabis v. alcohol tack, but it should be clear to anyone who has done any reading of the scientific (and other) literature that cannabis is far less harmful to the individual and society as a whole than is alcohol.

That's pretty much how I feel about the matter.

Then do not, dilemma solved. As for that arguement. I was not here for that so it means nothing to me.
