Marc Stein: Jazz-Warriors discuss pre-Lottery trade (Source says trade "likely")

Odds are that next year's pick protection won't be a factor.

With Bogut and Curry's health being the variables, I wouldn't say it's overwhelming odds, though, and the payoff could be huge, depending on how much they drop the protection. With the way things are headed now, considering changes in the new CBA, it's going to be extremely difficult to find opporunities at unprotected/lightly protected picks.

Personally, I'd give GS what they want for the next 2 drafts. I'd want a guaranteed 1st with no strings attached in year 3.

I really hope this isn't what happens. A lot can happen in two years. I would feel ok gambling on a higher pick next year because of Bogut and Curry, but if it comes down to gambling on a pick two years from now, I'd rather just ride it out with our chances this year.

I'll assume Curry misses half of the season and Bogut misses the other half. That team still finishes in the 9 - 12 draft range, unless they tank again--something I don't think their fans could tolerate two years in a row. The fact that these high lotto picks are so valuable makes me want to hang up the phone on GSW and take our chances. We have nothing to lose, and Dorrell Wright or a #30 pick is not likely to push us upwards in the standings.

I'd give up a 28% chance at #8 if I knew that by making the trade, I'd get an asset that helps me secure the number 14 pick so I can take Miller, T. Jones or Lillard. That I'd do.

Wanna bet? Just look at their owner. That guy's as shady as they come.

If I were KOC, I'd be calling every team picking in the 10 - 14 range and asking them if there's something the Ws have that, combined with something we have, would secure their pick. Then I'd report back to the Ws and ask for that.

Maybe Al Jeffs + #30 gets us a late lotto pick.

They will definately tank again if they're not in the playoff picture, depending on the protection of the pick. They have no problem selling tickets, and therefore no reason not to protect their future interests.

Are they still happy with curry. Because a Bogut / Lee /Sullenger front court would be a good start for them. I say we move Raja and the pick for curry and a second rounder. Then we have ourselves a shooter.

That wears a suit to the games.

I think that he wouldn't get hurt here he wouldn't be the whole focus of the offense. So, he wouldn't get banged up as much. He could run point kind of like how Harris did sitting at the top of the key and hitting threes.

My guess:

3mil and drop from top 7 to top 3 protection next year and from top 6 to top 3 the following, and maybe unprotected the last year.
