Marc Stein: Jazz-Warriors discuss pre-Lottery trade (Source says trade "likely")

It is my guess that Mark Jackson is after Marshall. He wants this guy bad and doesn't want anything to stand in his way.

So IMO the Jazz should do nothing. Whatever they give up to ensure their pick is laughable compared with us getting the same player. Who is exactly what we need. If, in fact, they get leapfrogged and still want to trade then get to business. I believe it would take an awful lot to move Utah away from Marshall. Clearly the odds are against this occuring but from a negotiation standpoint you have to believe in that. You got their pick next year anyways and you know Mark Jackson isn't coaching anybody into 45 wins. If I'm KOC I play hardball.

When they traded Monta this year, they went all in for Curry and they should. Curry is a hell of a point gaurd.
I think they're weak at the SF spot though, my money is they want Barnes/PJIII. With Barnes/PJIII, that is a scary team for their future if they're healthy.
Curry, Thompson, Barnes/PJIII, Lee, Bogut

In my scenario Curry becomes a SG or becomes bait. Jackson wants a pass first PG to mold. Probably Curry is heading out IMO. Jackson will trade him for some stiff C.

Have GS drop the protection to top 3 or unprotected next year and I'm in.

This. And quite frankly, I want it unprotected. Between that Knicks pick and this, it's a ****ing rollercoaster of emotions.

Give them back their 1st this year and we get their unprotected 1st next year and their #30 this year. If you're the Warriors, this doesn't seem so bad because you automatically get the pick this year in what is a deep draft. Yes, you automatically lose it next year but I bet they highly doubt they'll end up with a top 7 pick again since they assume a healthy Bogut, Curry and 1st rounder this year should net them five more wins, give or take.

#30, next year's unprotected 1st for us--they get the 1st this year no matter what

I'm late to the discussion on this one, but just want to add that it is encouraging that GS is asking and KOC is deciding. Always better to negotiate from the position of one with options. KOC just needs to make sure he doesn't try to milk too much from them lest, they walk away angry.

This is what I fully expect to happen.

Warriors get pick this year no matter what. The pick becomes top 4 protected next two years and GS gives us cash.

CASH BABY! THAT WILL BE THE BIG RETURN ON THIS
So you're saying that you agree with yourself? Fascinating. Thanks for letting us know.
