What's new

Marvin Williams Videos - I LIKE this guy!!!

What must have been hard is that due to league rules, he hadn't been able to talk to KOC or Ty. Wasn't possible until after July 11th when the trade became official.
In another interview, I read that he really likes Hayward's game and was impressed by how hard Utah fought during that 4OT game last year.

He was coming off the bench for most games last year, so I don't think it's going to matter if Hayward starts at the 3 and Burls at the 2, or if he and Hayward start and Alec comes off the bench. He'll still get as many or slightly more minutes than he did last season (26). Sounds like a pretty good character guy with no preconceived notions about SLC. Should fit in well with Mo, Paul, etc.

Just as a clarification, he was benched for parts of the last 2 years. He was not happy about it. He was not a bench player who was happy to start when he got the chance.

Never left his hotel room playing in SL in his career? I guess he was focused on the game.

That seems so odd to me, though I have no idea how much time they really have on the road. But if it were me I'd be exploring every city during my off time.

I almost thought this was a new "I'm a Mormon" ad.

Yea, what makes it odd is that he didn't qualify by saying something to the effect of the room camping just being what he does. Seems like on these road trips those guys would have to find something to do besides work out and play XBox.

And this dude's been around for awhile. Never? Not trying to hate on him but it really stood out. On the bright side for Marvin the flight to Seattle is very short, he'll have an easy time getting family in the arena for games if he wants, and he doesn't come across as a hardcore clubber. If he really does love the hotel he's got Gordon to game with.

I like his reasoning for not liking 'suspense movies' - "Because it puts me on the edge for the rest of the day and I don't like that".

I like the kind of guy who doesn't take himself too seriously but know what's important and that's to put in the work.

He doesn't seem to be the kind of guy who would get stressed over missing shots too which is a plus (*cough* Hayward *cough*). Hopefully he can really boost our 3pt shooting % this year and clear some space for Big Al & Favors.

He did say he enjoys movies.
I used to be in the TS business (that's tradeshow, haha - I know what you degenerates were thinking). And on many trips, the first night ALL you want to do is relax. These guys are dealing with jet lag and having to play a game. I imagine a lot of them get to the hotel very late (or early in the a.m.) after their flight the previous night, sleep in 'til late a.m., then have to get to the arena for a practice/walk-through and have just a few hours to relax before returning for warmups and the game.

In the press conference, Marvin Williams stated that he's a big fan of Gordon Hayward because he works hard. I wonder if these incoming players are coached to say 'work hard'. It's like a dog whistle to Jazz fans or something.

haha

"My name is Marvin Williams, I'm a Utah Jazz player, and I'm a Mormon."

My friends and I are single. We joke about converting to Mormonism to get in the ward.

Marvin's single. Mormonism is not a far cry for him.
Someone just needs to plant the idea in his head...IE: Inception.
