Rodney King revisited

I lived in SoCal and worked in L.A. when the riots broke out. It got me 4 days off work... paid. I'd like to thank all of the outraged blacks and Mr. King for giving me paid vacation days.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around Crispus Attucks and how he was part of such a motley rabble of saucy boys, negros and molattoes, Irish teagues and outlandish jack tarrs, and probably got what he deserved. The rebel rouser.

Don't go thankin Rodney, eh, Marcus? If he had his way, ya woulda lost that 4th day, at least:

"On May 1, 1992, the third day of the L.A. riots, King appeared in public before television news cameras to appeal for peace, asking:

“ People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along? Can we get along? Can we stop making it, making it horrible for the older people and the kids?...It’s just not right. It’s not right. It’s not, it’s not going to change anything. We’ll, we’ll get our justice....Please, we can get along here. We all can get along. I mean, we’re all stuck here for a while. Let’s try to work it out. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to work it out."

Don't believe the taser was around in 91. Probably a stun gun which was just pain compliance.

Now, let's not confuse The Joker with a bunch of facts, especially since facts have such a liberal bias anyhow.

If I were to guess at the reason for the OP, I would suggest a Colbertity.

Use of the Taser
Sergeant Koon then ordered the officers to "stand clear". King was standing and was not responding to Koon's commands. Koon then fired a Taser into King's back. King groaned; momentarily fell to the ground; then stood back up. Koon fired the Taser again, knocking King to the ground.[10] Powell's arrest report states that the Taser "temporarily halt[ed] deft's [King's] attack", and Solano stated that the Taser appeared to affect King at first because "the suspect shook and yelled for almost five seconds".[13]

I know the difference... You sack of ****...
I am undeniably more liberal than I am conservative FYI, don't let me alter-ego's fool you, they were just part of the growing up process.

I just don't fall victim to "political correctness/ don't wanna offend nobody" BS.

I'm a free thinker, so why don't you step out of the box...

I am The Joker... take the name and ego to heart

I do appreciate positive rep though.

From another thread:

...starting threads the same day in which you not so subtlely compare the moderators to the Los Angeles police department is probably not the best opening salvo.

Kicky, you totally misconstrue things if you think this thread is in any way comparing the LAPD's beating of King with any actions taken by any moderators on this board. If you read it with a less defensive mindset, I think that would be clear.

Ya know, Biley, that's probably one significant difference between you and me. I would much prefer to "discuss" ideas than to "make points."

Love the condescension. Maybe one day the whole world will ascend to your lofty heights. But probably not. It just occurred to me though that you really aren't a victim. You're a martyr. Which I guess makes all of us the rabble persecuting you. Carry on the good fight and smash those windmills to the ground.

Love the condescension.

Not sure why you think it's condescension, eh, Biley? Different people have different preferences, that's all. You routinely advise me to "make points," and I certainly know from prior discussions with you that that happens to be your approach to any discussion. You take a stand, then set out to "prove" your point. It all seems to be a contest with you, and you're hardly alone in that perspective.

One aspect of your methods that I would criticize (call it "condescension," if you like) is your tendency to demonize your opponents and express vehement personal animosity toward those who don't readily concede the correctness of your opinions. In my book, characterizing those who disagree with you as "barbarians,' for example, might qualify as "condescension."

OK, I see. By the way, what the hell is a "Colbertity," exactly, eh, Eric?

I suppose that Colbertishity or Colbertlikeness would have been more precise. Turn it into an adjective before you turn it into a noun, right? Outside of that, if you don't get SCILF, I'm not in the mood to explain. My suspiscions are that you understand the meaning well enough.

In 1991, a Taser supplied by Tasertron to the Los Angeles Police Department failed to subdue Rodney King. Its lack of effectiveness was blamed on a faulty battery.

You think King's PCP-incuded state drained the battery, as well as disappearing when being tested? Or, you just didn't do the research?

Love the condescension.

I didn't read any condescension, just a contrast. Do you always assume when people contrast themselves to you, that it is an insult?

Naw, Eric, I really aint got no clue who Colbert is. Never heard of no SCILF, neither, that I recalls. Ya don't hafta explain the whole "Colbert" reference. Just tell me what ya mean, eh?
