Kirilenko for Varejao and Mo

Would you pull the trigger?

Why the Jazz do it:

- Varejao -
... is arguably the best role player in the league
... is one of the best defensive bigs in the league
... is 6'11
... playoffs and finals experience

- Williams -
... superb outside shooter
... combo guard skills, can play with Williams at times
... great scorer for the second unit
... playoffs and finals experience

- Cap -
...saves 1.3 million dollars this year

Why the Jazz don't do it:

- Kirilenko -
...miss his length and defence at the three?

- Cap -
... 5 year commitment on Varajao
... 2 year commitment on Williams
... Luxury tax over the next few years?

Why the Cavs do it:

After the Lebron debacle Cleveland is in a rebuilding mode. Large financial commitments for twenty seven year old role players do not make a lot of sense. With Kirilenko they can take nearly eighteen million off the books next season.

Why The Cavaliers won't do it:

Because that would be the equivalent of Dan Gilbert waving the White Flag and saying "we lost LeBron so now we're going to go ahead and trade our two best players so we can suck again for the next 25 years until we fall *** backwards into another once in a generation player."

It goes against everything he said in his open letter to Cleveland last month - it would essentially make him look like an ***; and if you're a GM who would like to keep his job, the last thing you want to do is make your owner look like an ***.

Never happens - at least not now.

Gilbert already looks like a ****.

Though, definitely a valid point. Surely their fans know though that they are rebuilding. The team doesn't have the kind of trade assets to pull in the stars to compete now so their only options are the draft and free agency and that is going to take years.

Things might look different to him and the fans come the trade deadline and they have ten wins.

stop typing...

I'd do it. I'd bring Williams off the bench, would get all the backup minutes, then would play the 2 on offense with Deron and finish games. CJ will only play at the 3 and Bell may get minutes as the 3 depending on matchup.

I think Andrei's weak psyche has a bigger impact on team dynamics than people will give credit for. The same reason why ditching Boozer was a big plus.

This trade would give us Mo' Williams' than I would want on this team.... .... ....... ... . ..... . ..... .... .. ... *crickets*

jk.. I'm okay with this trade. But closer to the deadline, IMO.

This is actually a pretty dynamite move. Williams > Andrei as well as Varejao > Andrei. However, I suppose it would be better if we could hold on a little longer when OKC needs to unload Durant on us for cap space.

Antwan Jamison isn't getting traded is he?

Interesting idea.

I'm not a big Varejao fan. He's always a whiny little bitch like he's in a contest with Dirk Nowitzki for the league's Biggest Cry Baby award. But his height and hustle could help in areas.

I watched AK single handedly win tight fourth quarter games last year. I don't understand the outright resentment of AK here. You may not like him or his contract, but give cred where due. Andre wins games. He's extremely crafty, and was often the answer to those famous Jazz droughts. He's not a pure scorer, but he knows how to get to the line. The Jazz need that when they disappear on offense for 4-5 minute stretches. How many times did we see that last year in the fourth quarter? Over and over and over. Then AK shows up, gets the ball high, musters up some awkward looking drive, gets fouled, and breaks the scoring drought. Also, drawing fouls and creating foul trouble substitutions is a huge deficit that the Jazz just don't seem to understand. They could use a little more awkward AK foul flailings early on.

That said, Mo, as a pure scorer, could fill AK's role here much better. Plus the Jazz desperately need a competent backup for Deron. They absolutely fall apart when he's resting.

I'm also not big on filling up on AV's 8.33 m for 4 more years.

i guess you havent read the board much...

Only ten years or so.

seriously, do you expect the Millers to pay the LT EVERY YEAR GOING FORWARD?

Is that what I am advocating? Actually read my post this time, stop posting absurd one-liners and look for the part where I listed the cap ramifications as part of the reason the front office might not want to pull the trigger.

What?! No way in hell. And I like AV but not even remotely close here.

Just when I was starting to have the tiniest hopes there was the slightest possibility, just maybe you would some day, probably very long off in the future but none the less, add something of remote value to any Jazz discussion, you poop out another doozie.

Jazz pull that trigger in a heartbeat if offered.
