Playing Devils advocate. How would it not help everyone? Who would it hurt? Those people trying to have 1,000 kids? They can take the "pill" and become fertile again.

Current birth control medicine increases the risk of heart disease and stroke, expecially among smokers, IIRC. It is basically femle hormones, and children drinking it would have early/abnormal development.

You can speculate about some future medicine that would have no side effects, but I doubt that would ever be a reality. If a medicine has effects, it will have side effects.
