What's new

Jabari Parker

Granted I've only watched him play a handful of times, and he is just a kid, but he looks to me like he has the BB IQ of Lebron, with the athletic ability of Paul Pierce. Shoots, rebounds, passes (does everything) much like Lebron does, but he lacks that freak athletic ability.

That's probably pretty fair. I actually think Pierce is a decent comp.

As I've said before, Parker is very polished for his age. That makes him more dominant now, but maybe lesser so once others catch up to that polish but have more athleticism.
From what little I've seen of Parker, he has a pretty diverse set of offensive skills (he can pull up, catch-and-shoot, make timely reads and cuts, and operate from in-between, both facing up and with his back to the basket). How many NBA guards and wing players ever "catch up"? Kobe and Dirk have been shining examples over the last handful of years of how a well-tuned mid-range game (operating in the mid-post with their backs to the basket) can be far more effective than isos, drive-and-dish and P&Rs. Not a lot of players are catching up. Maybe Parker continues to play ahead of people, leveraging defenses in ways they're not accustomed to handling.

^^^ That's why he'll be very good. If he wasn't so polished with his offensive skillset, he'd be just another NBA guy and nothing special.

Pierce seems like a pretty good comparison.

What happened with Duke?

He's actually about 60/40 MSU/puke .. proximity making up the difference. Apparently he just decided last night. I suppose it could change, but a couple coaches were called today to be told, directly, by Jabari ... rather than them hearing along with everyone else.

Oh yeah, forgot about Gyp .. guess you're happy!

@spy .. I know you're only joking .. but it is done, but sometimes kids do change their minds, ya know?

Look at TJones. He called the UK coaches to tell them he was announcing for UK. He called Wash to tell them the 'bad' news. Then, at the very last possible second, with cameras rolling, he chose Wash. (of course he later reversed that, but you get my point)

I'm not mad about it, but I'm thinking I need to keep this stuff on in my private forum since this info is already on the BYU board. (Not that I should expect the info should stay here.)

Btw, the guy on the board that I'm speaking about that said, "that's not the way recruiting works" is completely wrong .... but I won't expand on that.

you saying people from cougarboard read jazzfanz?

Eww.

In my private forum I have been unveiling what college a kid will choose prior to the announcement and have it right 100% of the time.

My contacts are UK related so I don't always get rock solid info on a kid if he's not involved with UK. However, I know where Jabari is going and since many here are interested in that choice, I thought I'd post it in a public forum.

Next Thursday, December 20th, 3pm (EST) on ESPNU ... Jabari Parker will announce his intent to play for Michigan State.

Book it.

And if I'm wrong, I will buy tacos for the first 10 jazzfanz members that call me on it.

Dibs on a taco!

(just kidding... in case you coudn't tell, I edited PKM's post to include the line about the tacos.)
