Big Al staying put for rest of season?

Well, at least now other GMs won't think that the Jazz are desperate to trade Jefferson. That should give the Jazz a little leverage... but then again that article is probably correct and the Jazz really do plan on keeping Jefferson.

Stein also said they are impossible to read as well. It's nothing but guess work.

I'd be surprised if the Jazz made a move. Hopefully they can get value in sign-and-trades this summer.

This makes sense with the narrative we created here. Lots of people here talked about how Sap would go because hes going to cost more.
So if the front office feels he'll cost to much then they'd be looking to keep Al, and trade Sap.

We won't make a move and everyone will say we'll make aove this summer. Then we'll ink Al to as many years as Obama got.

This makes sense. What scares me though is the idea of trading Millsap, and then re-signing Big Al 7/1 because of a fear of who we'll be without both of them. What are our stats like last year and this year with those combos of Al/Favors, Al/Kanter and Kanter/Favors? Decent?

I'd be curious to see those stats as well. NBA.com only lists the top 50 of each type of player combo (1-player, 2-player, etc.) though. Does anyone know where comprehensive stats on player combinations can be found?

Kaboom. This is why Al will be resigned and it is going to be completely catastrophic. For hell sakes, they were afraid with the 3 spot after "losing" Howard and Miles so we went after Marvin. Even if we lose one of the two, we'll be afraid of the loss of "production" and we'll pursue Brand or Kaman.

A quick history review....

When Boozer's 12 million was expiring, and Milsap was a well paid back-up the Jazz did NOT trade Boozer.

Expiring AK 17 Million.....No trade.

Expiring Memo, who was hurt...traded for an exception at the beginning of the season.

I'm going to say no trade, he walks as a FA and the Jazz move on.

Í'd be really surprised if the Jazz didn't trade Millsap. They were 1 and out last year in the playoffs, why would it be any different with pretty much the same team. They have a lot of the same problems that they did last year. Jazz need to trade him for a little Pg/Sg help.

Maybe something like this;

Yep I went there another Danny Granger trade. Hanbrough would be a decent 4th big, Augustin could be an upgrade over Watson with a decent 3 point shot, with granger Hayward could play more at the 2.

Indy would have a killer big man rotation of Hibbert, West, Millsap while letting Paul coming to show why hes an All-Star

Brand's not a bad idea as a 3rd big imo. He's only playing 21 mpg this year and I doubt he'd expect more next year at this stage in his career. I'm hoping we have the balls (and sense) to go go with Kanter and Favors as our starters next season, someone like Brand who's a good leader and locker room guy by all accounts on the cheap as our 3rd big, and then some 4th big from the draft, FA, or even Tomic.

Gyp, these are the available +/- for Jefferson/Favors/Kanter 2-man combos:

2012-13

Kanter-Favors: +17, 447:43
Jefferson-Kanter: +9, 25:23
Jefferson-Favors: -9 or worse, unknown

2011-12

Jefferson-Favors: +82, 458:07
Jefferson-Kanter: -1 or worse, unknown
Kanter-Favors: -1 or worse, unknown

Not sure if serious?

Favors/Kanter are +17 for the year.
Jeff/Kanter are +9 in limited time.

No sign of Jefferson/Favors...who would likely be the starters.

Jazz are in serious contention for the fifth spot. I'm starting to doubt any moves will be made considering the easy schedule and Mo Williams returning to give a shot in the arm/kill team chemistry.

Jazz are in an optimistic boat. Bleh.

Did you watch the team between 2008 and 2010?

Brand isn't a bad idea as a third big man. The problem is he wouldn't be brought in as a third big but rather as a starter. We'll justify it early on because everyone will hint that eventually Kanter/Favors will be able to replace him in the starting lineup, but of course that won't happen.

Agreed. I also think this will be sold heavily around the deadline about how committed we are to winning and how good we are now and some garbage about "we just need to see this team healthy!"
