Kanter analysis from a Kanter hater after last night

So there's this person who posts on another Jazz forum that has hated on Kanter since he was drafted. Every positive thing was dismissed and he always has said he will be nothing much.

After last nights game he maintains his belief that Kanter is nothing more than a backup big. Are there people that are actually this blind or is someone's ego possibly that massive?

Ok last night Kanter played great last night, theres no if ands or buts about it. With that said it still changes nothing for me. I'm still going with my orginal prediction that he can start for a bad team but is a backup for a good one. Last night, the majority of his shots were dunks and layups (a few jumpshots mixed in). To his credit a few of them came off of fakes in the post where he would turn around for the dunk which biyombo bit on everytime. Most of the vets don't bite on those fakes. And the only real post move (involving backing down his man) he did last night was blocked earlier in the game. Theres a reason that this guy was top 5 in getting his shot blocked (among qualified players) last year and is top 15 now (he was headed for top 10 again after some of the last few games but may have avoided it last night). Its great that he did this but its nothing new, I saw him do this in those pre-draft videos and even in the pre-season. He is not gonna score like that on a consistent basis.

So then what is he gonna do since his true post moves are way too raw and he gets blocked way too much for a guy of his size? Well lately he has been slowly moving further away from the basket and is shooting more jumpers. There has been around a 11% drop within the last two months in the amount of shots he has attempted in the post which is very steep and if this countinues it will lead to an imbalance in his shot selection and he becomes more Okur than Jefferson (which may not sound like a bad thing but he has a long way to go before reaching Okur level). In the toronto game he did have 18 and 8 (on 42% shooting) but he was blocked 5 time and gave up about 24 points, most of them to bargs who scored easily outside the post on Kanter (which is nothing new since him and big al struggle to defender outside the low post). Also, last night he had a lot of turnovers and so far this year his turnovers have doubled despite only playing a min and a half more per game. I know I come off as a hater but the issues I had with Kanter are still there and nothing was changed from last night.

With all that said to his credit he does take advantage of his oppurtunities which says alot about his personality and effort level unlike another big man we have. HOW IN THE **** DO YOU FOUL OUT WHEN BLOWING OUT THE BOBCATS!!!!! Not to mention you shoot 30%, WHAT TYPE OF CRAP IS THAT?!!!? That was inexcusable. Favors foulling problem may go away in a few years but right now people need to stop denying that its not the elephant in the room. Its huge and it can be detrimental to a team trying to win when a guy who suppose to be your best defender can't stay on the court because he's in foul trouble constantly. As many problems as I have with Kanter, he still stays on the court. Favors better watch it or Kanter will take his minutes.

I'm speechless

Could it be franklin? (i know he referred to kanter as "kwame kanter" for quite a while and had no faith in him. Also he has a post in the free alec burks thread that simply says "burks sucks")

Okay, so reapaman, to say that Kanter has a long way to go before reaching Okur level, is true in many ways, but Kanter is a better defensive presence now than Okur ever was.

What a troll.

"The only post move he did was blocked earlier in the game"

Did he even watch the game? What about the spin move that led to a lefty lay up? The spin move around his man to the other side of the hoop for a lay in? The jump hook at the end of the 3rd?

That guy seems like a tool to me...a complete lack of intellectual honesty.

This is how I felt about him. It's like this in everything he posts. He also loves big Al.

The hate comes from the same place as Corbin. The people that didnt want us to draft Kanter will hang on to every mistake the kid makes and ignore everything he does right. It is a blow to the ego to be wrong about him. With Corbin its a little different in that he is a vet lover or young player hater, but he knows Kanter can play but has had the kid collecting butt splinters so long that he is afraid to let what most everyone already knows that Enes is a stud and will make Corbin look stupid if he plays him more minutes. Ego over welfare of the team, thats our coach.

I'm going to guess that he likes Big Al. Which, if true, is really all you need to know.

My brother loves Big Al, and can't understand why I want him gone. He thinks Kanter will be good but wants the jazz to keep Al till Kanter is ready to start. I told him if we get rid of Al now Kanter will be ready to break out in a year or two tops, but with Al it could tak years and years.

He called me an idiot, and I said we'd see who the idiot was after the Bobcats jazz game.

Great players score 23 pts on 12 shots against bad teams. It's thats simple. Yes, Charlotte sucks. And yes, Kanter dominated against Charlotte.

Two retorts -

1 - How many "great" defensive big men are there to shut down Kanter? I can't think of 5.

2 - Kanter is already a very, very good big man, and probably the best "young" (under 25) offensive big man in the game. He will struggle against better teams, because all players do...That's why that team is better. What will determine if he goes from very, very good to elite is how well he develops against those elite teams.

In order for Kanter to be the best big man in the game, he only needs to go 9-18 against Dwight Howard. I don't see how he can't do that.

The guy is a tool

Show him the last game Al scored 23 pts and how many shots he took.

Show him last night's game where Kanter took 12 shots to get 23 pts. Then explain how that means there are a lot more shots to go around, a lot more offensive possessions to be had, and a lot more points to be scored when Kanter is on the floor vs Al. And that doesn't even take defense into account.

There is more to basketball than a box score.

As **** as this board can be at times, it's sooooooooooooooooooo much better than the realgm Jazz board. Bunch of complete morons over there.
