What's new

Kirelenko in Trade talks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that still ain't chump change. Especially for a small market team like the Jazz.

But you also aren't counting the LT revenue that the Jazz would be getting if under the LT.

Its 16,275,228 now. I forgot to include Fesenko which he will most likely sign the QO.

You're also not counting the $9 million on the 2nd year of the deal. The only way the Jazz save that much is if the entire season gets locked out (which is more likely than Diaw opting out). It could cost more than $9 million depending on how quickly negotiations advance, how BRI is distributed, how the cap/tax threshold is set, and how teams will be penalized for being over.

I edited it. I only mean luxury tax savings from the trade. We won't be over the luxury tax next year no matter what.

UPDATED

I just added up these players (ESPN Trade Machine). I took out Gaines because we know he will be released (Watson Signing)

Bell
Evans (Will Most Likely stay with team)
Hayward
Jeffers (Thompson could take his spot but money won't change much)
Jefferson
AK
Miles
Millsap
Okur
Price
Deron
Fesenko (QO)

Total: 76,069,022

https://www.nba.com/news/cba_minimumsalary_050804.html

Elson (7 years) = 1,146,337
Watson (9 years) = 1,229,255

New Total: 78,444,614

Current NBA Luxury Tax = $70,307,000

Utah Jazz are over the luxury tax by 8,137,614

8,137,614 (x2 for penalty); Total Jazz Luxury tax savings if AK trade happens 16,275,228

You are also not including the amount of money the team gets by being out of the tax

Locke's numbers show the Jazz saving 20M by making this trade. Thats is half of the amount of money the Jazz make off home games in a season.

If I'm Greg Miller it's worth getting rid of Kirelinko for that money. While I'd rather have Kirilenko than not, I'd rather have 16 million than Kirilenko. And I don't think it will hurt our chances of keeping Williams.
