first 10 posts reviewed by Mods rule

Two more questions Tosis!!!

Oh right...I've been lurking for at least a year now. Maybe even longer, can't quite remember.

What made me sign up? I finally decided that I wanted to add some input to the board. It might now always be right, in fact, in most likely usually won't be right, but dang it, I wanted my opinion to be heard. So I persevered through my first 10-ish posts, and can now post consistently. Hopefully y'all enjoy me, and if ya don't, well then just let me know.

/Except for you Nickkkkk. You can shut up.

Oh and since PKM jogged my memory a bit, why did some of these posters get banned?

Such as Hantlers, apparently Dalamon, and since Trout isn't posting 50 times a day I'm assuming he got banned as well. What's up with that?

maybe this will jog your memory as well?

Basic Rules

As was stated when you signed up for a Jazzfanz account, you have agreed to “not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.” Those are the Basic Rules. If you violate the Basic Rules, you have violated the terms of your membership and Jazzfanz has the right to suspend or ban your account after even a single violation.

Normal Moderation Procedures

Infractions: Normally we are more lenient than the single strike policy. In general, when the rules are broken, the moderators will issue an official "infraction" to the offending party, with a corresponding "infraction point". An official infraction requires a “yes” vote from three moderators/administrators. Infraction points fall off your record after 180 days. (If the offense is deemed less serious, a "warning" with no infraction points may be issued instead.)

Suspensions: Typically you are permitted only two infractions in a 180 day period. Upon the third infraction, you will serve a 7 day suspension. Upon the fourth infraction, you will serve a 14 day suspension.

Bans: If you get a fifth infraction in a 180 period, you will receive a permanent ban. If you are banned, you will not be reinstated. This includes your original account and any additional accounts you may create.

Guys - are new posters informed of the "10 posts rule" at all? If not, shouldn't it be? I'd hate to think we're scaring new posters off because they can't see their first few posts.... that would be a shame.

The reason I've asked is I've just had a new poster PM'd me about this. He has watched a lot of Schroeder in person (he's from German) and he's very eager to share his insights & join our conversation.

Yeah if they don't know I think that should be changed.

What about at least 3 posts and 24 hrs? I don't see it as being harder to pretend to be legit for 10 posts as opposed to 3 if you're here for mischief.

Well the rule might be OK if they know about it.. but if they don't then it's hard.. they might think the site doesn't work properly or something..

But then if you let them know of the rule, you might get guys trying to break the rule...

Classic catch 22.

So nic, who's ur alt? Circle of truth bros.

There's a notice on the screen (that can be dismissed) that their first posts are moderated.

OK thanks. May be he didn't know that 'moderated' means it will be withheld.

Well his screen name is "Overseal" here is his profile:

Apparently he's been "banned".. LOL.. not sure what's going on.

I saw that he had 1 post in the draft thread - not sure when that appeared.

Mods - do you know what's going on this with guy? I'd hate to think that somehow I got him "banned" by bring up this issue? Hope not........ hmmm

The system flagged him as a duplicate account with "GreetingfromGermany", so as is our policy both accounts were banned. Tell him to contact Jason to get things sorted out.

Hmm.. that's a shame. I wonder if he created another account because:

1. He wanted to change the username

2. He couldn't see any posts when he posted with the original account

I dunno.. seems like an honest rookie mistake to me... but you guys have more investigative tools so I'll leave it up to you. It would be a shame if he couldn't post here just because of these trivial obstacles & bureaucracy.

I tried to contact him again but I can no longer PM him for some reason....

This is the U.S.; we're big on bureaucracy. In the spirit of the current administration, he's supposed to just sign up and then read the specifics later. Not our fault if he's confused by the myriad of rules. The important thing is that he's signed up; now just tell him how much he should pay Jason.
