Ramifications of our actions

Let's look at the two trades made at the time Deron was traded to NJ.

NY - 3rd in the East
Denver - 3rd in the West
Brooklyn - 4th in the East

Utah....struggling for the 8th spot.

NY - Carmello leading the team, has scored 90 pts the last two games
Den - Their pieces haven't done as much, but play as great compliments to AI
Brooklyn - Deron still a great pg

Utah - uh...um...not a SINGLE player in that trade gets MAJOR minutes for this team. SIX players are deemed as more worthy of minutes than Favors. ELEVEN players are deemed as more worthy of minutes than Kanter. Either the Jazz suck at finding talent, have major problems at developing that talent, or have antiquated methods in playing players (ie, the need to "earn" it).

So far, the Jazz BY FAR, have been the losers of the Carmello/Deron trades. They gave up a top 3 pg, a top 10 player for no one that can get more than 23 mins a night, and isn't (in the Jazz organization's eyes) better than an undersized, scrappy PF who isn't scrappy anymore, and a soft player that is weak mentally, selfish on offense, lazy on defense, and doesn't care about winning C.

Jazz fans have every right to be pissed. We have payed for tickets for 20+ years, bought memorabilia, and kept the Jazz in the top 10 in attendance even though we haven't been to a NBA Finals in almost 15 years. The Jazz are damn lucky to have us, not the other way around.

The Jazz have lied to us the past two years, and have done nothing to show they want to do anything more than line their own pockets.

Oh, and to the players that don't like us booing, maybe we don't like having 9 soon-to-be-free-agents who only care about their next paycheck. You don't want us to boo, try.

p.s. NBA player's attitudes about certain cities are going to change fast. If the past CBA has changed anything, then this attitude will change. Who in their right mind would rather live in Green Bay over Miami? Yet NFL players choose GB over Miami all the time. Why? The cap. They don't have a choice.

If this CBA was a farce, then booing matters. If the new CBA is working, then booing won't matter.

Utah will have a ton of cash. Money talks louder than anything.

Utah already has to overpay to get players, the fans can't hurt that.

What I see a lot of in this thread is trying to discredit what Locke is saying just because he works for the Jazz. You can disagree with him, but simply saying he's speaking on behalf of his employer is a rather big assumption.

I agree. I do think you can't take what he is saying too seriously though.

This too shall pass, amiright?

Fans pay good money for tickets

We have every right to cheer or boo as we see fit.

David Locke and jazz management need to put on their big boy pants

So true, so true. However, Locke's OPINION hasn't changed mine regarding booing play that deserves it, but he did convince me to never listen to him again -- podcasts, broadcasts, or radio interviews. The last thing I will tolerate is a prima donna lecturing me on my behavior.

As Locke said, "Actions have consequences."

Personally I think Jazz management has underestimated the anger of the fans in throwing away an entire season by not playing the young guys. Win, lose who knows but at least we would be one year further in the rebuilding process.

i had to laugh at locke this morning. does he really think that the booing was just about losing the Denver? the frustration levels are sky high for every single jazz fan i have talked to because of the psychological warfare the FO is waging on the fans the last 2.5 seasons. hopefully these "ramifications" that Locke mentions are that the team takes a critical look at why fans may be frustrated, which was the point of the OP. to fans, the whole approach since shipping off Deron has just looked complacent and short sighted. now i maintain hope that the master plan has been to get to this summer with cap space and then bottom out, but that has never really been communicated, only in veiled comments by Lindsey.

the part of Locke's podcast that worried me the most was when he said something to the effect of "based on jazz fans booing the jazz for losing to a really good team, i dont think this market would support a team that had to bottom out a bit" and "this is why there may be reluctance by owners/management to bottom out".... someone correct me if i am misremembering. I really hope that is him speculating and not based on any insider knowledge.

also, i think that Locke is experiencing so much cognitive dissonance himself with the team that he is prone to lunacy. he has convinced himself that the FO is flawless, that Jeffy is vitally important, and that Ty isn't incompetent. with all the evidence/vocal fans that challenge his views/mandated talking points, i think he just gets overwhelmed holding down the fort.

There is truth to this as well.

I find it funny how Locke can talk crap about the fans booing, but yet did he mention the fans were chanting for DMC and basically gave him a standing O when he came into the game for garbage minutes.

The fans aren't dumb. We appreciate the players that show they care, and play like they want to be playing. They aren't going to be booed. And the players do hear it, and appreciate it.

"Tough loss..but we will bounce back..Got to stay focus..#JazzNation really showed me love wit the Chants.. Trust me I hear y'all!! #blessed"

So Locke can paint his company picture that we fans are going to scare away potential free agents. If they can't take take the heat and don't want to play like they want it then they don't need to be here.

I listened to the pod cast 2 times once before I read this thread and once after. I have no Idea why the OP would be upset with what Locke said. I found it to be right on. The 2 examples he used when he talked about the booing was last night were the team really was trying and putting out effort, just missing shots and when we as fans boo people like D-Will who spent 6 great years here making us an exciting team to watch. Nether of these situations merit booing from fans.

Now if the team is just out there not trying or loosing every game by 40 points then going to the locker room and laughing about is then yes they deserve to be Booed and I would be right there doing it.

As for the OP saying that we aren't a good free agent market due to the fans is him taking what Locke said and twisting it. He said that in the situation last night were the team was really trying and playing hard then get booed for it after they had just won 5 games in a row could make guys wonder why they would want to stay and play here. There isn't much to do is SLC in the first place and one of the only things the Jazz have going for them is that they have a very strong fan base and compete every year. So if what Locke said made you upset maybe you need to go look in the mirror. Because I thought is was well thought out and correct.
