What's new

BYU @ Utah State

BYU fans turning on Bronco already. Classic.

Already? Bronco has been on the clock for the past three years. It's time to jettison his ***!

Bronco looked okay early on, when there was a team in place, but is now tasting the fruits of his own recruiting. Aside from Heaps and (to a lesser extent) DiLuigi, he has very little to work with. Without an O-line or some semblance of defense, the effectiveness of your skill position players is greatly diminished.

Most people do not want to admit it but the reason why Utah State is more athletic is because they have a lot more African American players. Its that simple.

Except it's been proven millions of times in millions of real studies that race has nothing to do with that.

This.

I've watched a number of college football games this year. Especially from the WAC and MWC. BYU is easily in the lowest third in terms of athleticism than in all the teams. Seriously, just look at Utah St, Air Force, and Nevada, they were far more athletic than BYU. It wasn't even close. The gap between BYU and the rest of the big boys (TCU, Utah, Boise, etc) is even greater.

I believe it was last year Bronco said something like, "Football isn't the #1 priority here."

Bull.

Bronco isn't being paid a huge paycheck to be a seminary teacher. BYU didn't build a new indoor facility for intramural sports. They're not going Independent and screwing every other sport while irritating MWC officials to try and build up Football because Football isn't very important.

Bronco and company needed to be reminded that they're paid a lot of money to be FOOTBALL COACHES. Character building will be done at a personal level. But Bronco's job is to win games and kick Little Brothers butt and to put "the church" on the map via kicking butt in football.

This is why this season is so sweet. The arrogance to "act" as if Football wasn't important while still having a successful program was offensive I'm sure to many. Then the complacency over the last few years especially in the recruiting sector is only now (to use Bronco's language) "Manifesting itself in the play of the collective." The losses of good athletes in favor of making "political" recruits is costing them.

A nice spoonful of bitter humble pie is what's being served here. I hope that the losses continue to pile up and pressure is finally brought onto Bronco to change things up. Even during the infamous Crowton (who's probably laughing off his head right now) era, did they look so poorly. Now it's time to see what Bronco is made of. Lets see how they react.

And truly, if they don't beat San Diego, I'm not sure if they'll win another game all year.....

I just noticed that some BYU fan gave me negative rep for starting this thread. Of course they wouldn't man up and tell me who they were. I actually started this thread to talk about how big of a win this would be for Gary Anderson and Utah Sate as my initial post clearly shows. I guess that won't stop some people from being over sensitve puss-bags.

Jim McMahon is not going to walk through that door. Steve Young is not going to walk through that door. Ty Detmer is not going to walk through that door. Jake Heaps might be going door to door.

Newsflash: Utah State is getting better under Anderson! It will take time for people south of Ogden to realize, but the new USU football program is no longer the gimme game on the schedule. Yeah, BYU looked less than stellar last night, but what about giving some props to USU for finally playing a complete game? We had the lead in the second half of the Fresno game before injuries to Coleman and Randle opened up the passing game for them. Last week, I think aliens abducted the real USU team and sent in some replacements to play at SDSU. That is the only explanation for that game that I can come up with. It will be fun to see how the rest of the season unfolds.

A side note on Heaps, he needs to learn how to put some touch on the ball. He throws the ball harder than any quarterback I have ever seen. And the play on the goal line where he overthrew the wide open back was classic. He'll get better, but I wonder how long BYU fans will put up with him.

Heaps is a good quarterback. But he lacks two important things; help and experience. He will gain experience. Help? Well, that's up to his coaches. BYU fan expects a lot because Heaps came riding in on a tsunami of hype. They expect instant results. But it will take time.

Yet again we have Ute fans starting threads about BYU. Even in a down year little brother can't help but focus on the big dog.

Jazzman12 in all honesty did make this about Utah St. and even restated as such not so much about whoever they played, I know I root for Gary Anderson as the ex Ute D coord. I'm not sure how the thread could have ever gotten off that subject.

Look at all of you pathetic 'Coug Fans'. Ogat and Scat leading the charge... Shocking, really.

Bronco is fine. A sack of **** is still a sack of ****, no matter what kind of bow is on top. This team just isn't good. They are young and inexperienced. It happens.

Do we suck balls this season? Yup. Next year too? Probably. But given time, things will click and we will go back to what we've always been, a winning top-25 school. Stick with Bronco and everything will be fine. (Robert Anaih on the other hand...)

Why should BYU suck balls for two straight seasons?

That's the problem. They shouldn't.
