Slam Mag: Deron Williams - 8th Best Player in the NBA

Am I the only one who hopes CP3 has a tame and/or terribad/injured year?

I'm sick of all these "sure he has dealt with a ton of injuries recently, but he's still better."

Give them another year of that and we'll see what they think. Part of the reason D-Will was picked ahead of CP3 is because we knew CP3 was gonna get his **** smashed up while D-Will stays relatively healthy (knock on wood).

I would imagine that character has a lot to do with it as well. I like CP3 and believe he is an amazing talent. In fact, as a player, I think he's better than DWill, but I think DWill runs a team's offense better.

No way I want CP3 to get injured. THen people will just say "Oh cause he got injured". I want CP3 to do great, I just want Dwill to do better.

What's with all the CP3 haters here? He's a helluva talented player and serious competition to D-Will. Be a D-Will fanboy all you want, but hating on Paul is unfounded.

Dirk is getting old.

No doubt in my mind Jefferson leaps in these lists by years end.

I will hate Chris Paul until

1) The media stops giving him an ever-BJ, regardless of performance or behavior
2) He stops being a complete prima donna and changes his management
3) He proves he's a winner

He has to do all of those things. As far as I'm concerned, his high +/- has more to do with the fact that New Orleans has a Chris Paul offense, so when he's not on the floor, they're completely lost. Anyone that uses LeBron cronies for their management is a villain as far as I'm concerned and I don't need to know anything more than that, they're absolutely ruining the NBA right now. And as far as Paul's play is concerned, he's entire defensive philosophy is to gamble as hard and often as possible and his entire offensive philosophy is beating people off the dribble and flopping. The second his speed disappears and he doesn't bait refs into calls, he gets pedestrian pretty damn quick.

There's nothing I like about Chris Paul except for his ability to pass.

Chris Paul is one of the least watchable "superstars" in the game unless you like to watch someone dribble...dribble...dribble...etc., without doing anything.

Thank you. This.

Being ranked 8th is a huge compliment to D-Will independent of who is ranked above him. I am very glad to have Deron on the Jazz but acting like Paul is not in the same camp or better is homerism. Chris Paul is a great ball player and it is not difficult to see why some rate him higher than Willy.

Paul is great. Williams is better.

Respect comes hard..........

for those that play for the Jazz. I don't think anyone thought John was number 1 until he retired. John was always behind Payton, Isiah or someone else. Hell, it's still hard to get some to acknowledge his greatness when Magic is brought up.

I for one think that Deron is the best point in the game, right now!! Chris' career has yet to show the world that he remotely deserves to be number 1.

I think that once Deron makes Al an all-star and the Jazz win a championship, he will be number one. (And that may be, just because he plays for the Jazz!) Even in the Jazz' system, if you were to plug Chris, he wouldn't be as good as Deron. And we're talking about a system that makes point guards, point guards.

I'm pretty sure that conversation would escalate into extreme rudeness very quickly. Probably over an argument about someone like David West.
Plus, I haven't watched much ball the last two seasons.

David West in the top 50?
