I had an ingrown back before the start of my ninth grade season, and it was nothing like that, but I know the first day of practice I had a guy step on my foot. Holy crap that was miserable. I went the next day and had it taken care of.
I can't even fathom Rudy playing with something like that going on.

What causes an ingrown toenail?

Toe cutting into skin, with bacteria then entering and infecting the region. I got one from cutting a toenail too short once, quite painful, but just getting your foot stepped on hard could start it.

When he took his last bath two weeks ago it wasn't that bad.

It is technically called surgery but it takes only like 45 minutes. That is not that bad to be honest. I had one that looked like that all the time except I got a staph infection on top of it. Looked like that with purple and blue everywhere.

I would get them constantly. Doctor said its a genetic thing with how I walked. I got so tired of the pain that I had them pull off the toe nail and put acid on it so it would not grow back anymore. Best decision ever. Someone can step on my foot and it doesn't hurt. Only if I drop something that is heavy and small on that exact spot does it hurt a little more than normal.

Wearing safety toe shoes solved my problem. Also protects the toe while it heals. Are steel toed Nike's allowed in the NBA?
