Could Burks be a more athletic CJ- drives more but still chucks? we'll soon find out, I'd agree he's likely trade fodder part of that might rest on how Rush goes.
Rush is probably going to be trade fodder (or at least should be) if he returns to form and the Jazz are terrible. Retaining him for sensible money becomes very unlikely for a UFA looking for a pay day and a player like that is always in demand. If he wants too much to stay (that's providing he'd even entertain the notion, but let's just call the MLE the divider between sensible and not), you can't meet that money or exceed it because - for the millionth time - net negative assets are basically never a good thing no matter how you break it down. That said, if the Jazz get the read that he might stay for sensible money then I think he's definitely a keeper.
The importance of asset management cannot be overstated. Get what you can, when you can, and where you can then move on. Remember Ronnie Brewer.
Spot on. I for one hope that Rush shows he is worth money beyond mid-level, which he very well just might. His TS% his last full season was something like 68%. He showed he can already do what we all hope Burks might be able to develop into. That said, if he is just above mid-level talent and shows he may command more then we could get something very solid in trade. Either way, I am excited to see him play this season.
