You sound a lot more certain of this than I feel. Without Tinsley's leadership things could start going in the wrong direction quickly, especially if they have the bad form to thank Lucas for his mentorship in the same manner.
 
Kanter only took 10 shots compared to Davis who took 21. The Jazz have to find a way to get Kanter more shots. If that means running more offense through Kanter so be it. If that means telling every other player to look inside to Kanter first so be it. We need to determine if Kanter can be the man in Utah. You can't find that out only giving him 10 shots a game.

In know I'm going to regret engaging in this but I disagree. Kanter's offensive rebounds have been awesome. In fact he is one of the best. His defensive rebounds have been lower than I expected, but there could be many reasons for this. One reason I believe is that other teams are focusing their box out efforts on Kanter. The game before last night when everyone was ripping on Kanter's rebounding he was contending with two or three guys on every single play. At least you, unlike some others, are smart enough to wait and judge his rebounding efforts.

Hayward is the man in Utah. Kanter is going to be good though.

Also @ Joe I think there is the difference between Jazzfanz in general and the FO. The FO is not tanking. They are forcing the development of Hayward, Kanter, Favors, Burke, Burks and Gobert. They are just doing it during a season that has the safety net of a spectacular draft.

They are about development over wins AND losses.

I'm talking about his defensive rebounding. I suppose there could be many reasons for his problems on the defensive glass, but watching the games makes it pretty obvious what the actual reasons are: Instead of locating his man, throwing his *** into him and sealing him off/pushing him back, he's been locating his man, facing him and pushing him with his arms. As a result, he's not in good position to grab rebounds (with his back to the basket and his arms occupied) or he gets completely steamrolled. It's hard to understand what the hell he's doing. His form was better last night, and I'm inclined to believe that his injury has affected his physicality/strength, so hopefully the improvement continues as he gets stronger and more confident.
 
If that is what it takes for the Jazz to win a game (tired foe, weak team, 38 point 4th quarter, Jefferson and Williams lighting it up), wins are going to be few and far between. Very few, very far between.

I realize that and I completely respect the FO goals and approach, but it would still be a shame to go through all of this pain only to end up with a mid to late lottery pick next year. I want one of those three top guys so bad. Imagine watching each one of them, all of whom are within our grasp right now, slip through our fingers. Imagine returning to form as a perennial eighth seed playoff team. Visualize the pain that the easy pathway is likely to bring, and you (like me) will be ready to travel this much more difficult road.

It would suck to miss out on that but that also means that enough of our youth have developed and are starting to show up.
 
In regards to the tank:
On the one hand I agree with spy that it would have been better to lose last night because the jazz will get better/healthier as the season goes on PLUS the schedule will get easier and other bottom feeders will have injuries and generally tank harder as we near the finish line in april.
 
On the other hand, I think we will end up with whatever pick we need.... if we have the worst record then we need wiggins/parker/randle.

If we win enough to get something around the 10 pick then that means we won a decent number of games despite the crap talent surrounding the young core so the young core must be pretty good..... so the 10th pick might be just enough for what we need. (Some very good players will be available at #10)

Worst case scenario is kinda what norm alluded to: if we win enough games to only get the 10th pick and it is because of players like marvin, jefferson, rush, biedrins ect.... then that would suck.

Did everyone think the Jazz were going to go 0-82? Start complaining when the Jazz get to twenty wins too soon. Last night's game was exactly the game the Jazz should win. They had six players in double figures and they shot 51% and 40% from 3pt with a bunch of FTs. Only Lucas kept the team from blowing out the Pelicans last night.
 
Not too worry if we start winning too much... more than 2.3 out of every ten, for example... We have a bunch of decent ish expiring vets we can ship to teams for low picks or iffy prospects.. thinning the bench way out and further securing tank.

Noticed Gobert got a DNP. Couldn't watch game
