Would you rather have Hayward or Matthews?

Isn't that what Hayward is though? I honestly see his ceiling as a good role playing shooting guard. Anyone else who see's him as more than that has the homer goggles on...

I see him as a role player too. Kind of like Hornacek (note: not in any way comparing his game or skill to Hornacek). Hornacek was a role player and our third best player. To simply look at him as that, however, doesn't give a complete picture. His influence was huge, much bigger than his 14/4 would lead you to believe. Oh, and if he was the best player on a crappy team everyone would be fed up with him not being "an alpha dog."

The difference is that Paul George made a HUGE jump in the playoffs last year and early this season. Otherwise, he was the same player Hayward is now, with some better defense.

wtf are you comparing here? Nobody said GH will produce next season same what PG last season, lol. Look at them both in the same season like 2013-2014! Just have a look and if you ever say one more time that they are pretty similar you should really give up on watching and posting about basketball.

We are asking him to be the main scoring option, that he is not, but would be a great second or third option like a Ginobili or OKC Harden.

Matthews is perfect SG. Tough defender, great shooter. What is Hayward and why he is better though? Because he can pass a bit and blocks occasional shot? But look at his TO's and FG%. His AST/TO ratio is terrible. Shooting like crap. Sorry but I take Matthews great shooting and defense with his limitations over Haywards"versatility" any day.

like I said above... He doesn't have a Lillard and Aldridge playing with Hayward. Hayward is the most developed player on the team surrounded by players as young as he still developing, and learning how to play in the nba. The only thing Matthews is better at is defense. Matthews doesn't have to worry about carrying an offense, and isn't the focus of the other teams defense, and doesn't have to worry about being the main playmaker, and assist man on his team. It's not hard to see why Matthews looks better! He's not. Put good role players and a star or two next to Hayward, and we aren't having this discussion.

If you swapped Hayward and Wes this year, Hayward would be putting up an efficient 16/4/4, while Wes would look like a bench SG. Wes can't create anything whatsoever for other players, and he can barely create for himself. He's a great 3 and D guy on a good team. Hayward would be a great 3rd option offense creator on a good team.

Although if it was Wes for 5 vs Hayward for 10, I'd take Wes, just because that's a damn bargain.

Woulda, should, coulda.... we heard same excuses last year when comparing to P.George. Homers were saying that given same minutes GH will produce same numbers like PG. We see how did that turned out. Enough excuses. If he would be that much better he would play like a star and not like garbage no matter the team or coach.

Do you ever look at all the facts. Last year George played on a championship level team, and Hayward plays on a team hitching a ride on one mammoth like tank. The fact that Hayward is putting up basically the same numbers as George did last year is very encouraging for Hayward's future.

I'm not saying he's going to be the same type of player PG is, but he's going to be very good, just like what everyone said about George last year.

You need to consider the fact that PG's team would run circles around our young and tanking team with a bunch of upside unfinished products.

On the Jazz, I'd take hayward. Matthews is great for Portland. They have great scorers in Lillard and Alldridge, and a jack of all trades type in Batum. Matthews is having an amazing year right now, but wasn't anything special the last 2 years. Hayward starts slow every year, hopefully he can change that. He is much more versatile on offense which is something the Jazz need. For Portland, Matthew fits great, but Hayward would look pretty good on that team as well.

Who thought Paul George would make that big of a leap? I was the one that said that they would similar production if they got similar minutes, and I was comparing last seasons minutes. There is absolutely no way in hell I would ever say that they will be the same player in the future. That is stupid. I said gordon Hayward could do what Paul George did last season, which I did not find that impressive, and now he is doing it. What are you missing here?

Do I think Hayward is as good as George this season, or will ever get there? Probably no way in hell. George took a HUGE leap this season, and Hayward just probably isn't as good as that. But last seasons Paul George is the same player Hayward is now, minus Paul George's playoffs, where he really turned it on.
