Dennis Lindsey feels he owes Richard Jefferson a lot

" Even the most novice fan can see what we did. But, look, y’know, it’s not young guys come hell or high water. We have Richard Jefferson that we’re trying to recreate his career, and we owe him a lot towards his career and responsibility to continue it. Ty’s coached him well and been honest with him, so, Richard, I think, appreciates that.

We have Brandon Rush, who we’ve gone through a long rehab [with]. We’ve been very patient and diligent — we could have rushed him back, but we didn’t physically or mentally, and I think Brandon and (his agent Mark) Bartelstein appreciate that.

Same thing with Andris Biedrins."

Thanks Frank. You read my mind--as gonna ask if you had a link in the other thread or just heard it on the radio. If we are to take this at face value, there is a lot more to DL's plan than high draft picks. I will be watching to try and figure out more about how he sees the rebuild taking shape, because it's difficult to see any logic in anything but a tank. Is it possible that DL doesn't buy into the hype? Or is this just increasing trade value, flipping players like people flip houses?.

Wonder if kanter and burks (guys with contracts next year) appreciate it.

Jefferson has played a lot of ball in the nba and given many chances by many coaches and had a great nba career..... next year some coach will give him another chance.

Its time to show some loyalty, confidence, and love to burks and kanter imo.

The players have consistently stuck behind Ty Corbin and been appreciative for his leadership. I'd guess this extends up above Corbin for the hiring. I guarantee Burks is grateful for Corbin taking him from a raw chump to a guy who deserves 26-27 minutes. Corbin's growth plan for Burks is going to make Alec a lot of money in this league.

I have a serious mental block that can't see past an outright tank. Not enough faith in this group and don't see any game changers being brought in during FA. Who we gonna get, Dirk or Cermello? Bleh.

At best I see another year of acquiring more draft picks hoping to hit up a James Harden type situation.

I heard on a local sports radio show that burks agent had told DL that burks was upset that he was not starting.

This was early in the year so maybe things have changed but he was in fact upset about his role this season.

I bet he was pissed the other night when jeffy got 40 minutes and closed out the game in charlotte despite burks playing well. (Pure speculation on my part)

I know I was pissed. (I was at that game btw)

I don't see Burks as the dumb young hothead you're making him out to sound. The Jefferson 40 was very logically explained and I'm sure a professional of Burks' caliber was smart enough to understand the lineup advantages Corbin chose.

Burks is always smiling after good performances and only speaks well of Coach. He is not mad at Corbin.

Same strong feelings on the tank. I also have a lot of faith in DL based on the moves he has made up to this point, but I just don't see any other viable plans atm. Trying to keep an open mind..

You are probably right. Burks does have high character.

Seems like I have been right about burks all along and I'm sure playing jefferson for 40 minutes in some games will payoff big time for us down the line

Burks has been playing more minutes and closing more close games than Jefferson since the end of November/start of December. He's been given a lot of responsibility with the ball in his hands as well (unlike Jefferson). Seems like a pretty minor gripe.

It is minor for sure.

But I still think that jefferson getting 40 minutes in any game (especially when burks is playing well) or burks getting 16 minutes in a game should NEVER happen.
(Injuries ir foul trouble being the exception)

Enes minutes going back to less than 20 per game is definately a bigger gripe
