There is always something so uniquely beautiful about your way of expressing yourself and interacting with others.

I enjoyed your responses with certain current topics masterfully woven in.

I like it being praised and treated nice. . . .

When you speak of "beauty". . . . or when I speak of "beauty", I understand it is a sort of thing that exists in the eye of the beholder.

That's why I can honestly, objectively, and factually tell my daughters and my wife that they are the most beautiful girls in the world. I am the one relevant judge of "beauty" so far I care to discuss the subject. . . .

you are also privileged to define such truths for yourself. . . .

Thanks for sharing. That is pretty funny you were part of the poll.

I thought it was funny they called me, for sure. I know they know who I am.

We were at a Trib subscription booth at the State Fair last fall, and "Anthony" was there. He was a very sociable, friendly fellow until I told him I was the famous "babe" of Tribtalk. . . . That was a hoot too. . . .

The last time I saw a persons demeanor change like that was when I was in the Arab quarter of Jerusalem and was lunatic enough to tell the arab souvenir vendor my friend was Jewish. . . . I guess buying a hundred bucks worth of olive wood camels, wise men, and mangers isn't enough to buy the lasting friendship of a Palestinian.

What is really funny is that, after my friend fled for his life, I wandered over to the ancient graveyard, all by myself, and the Palestinian caretaker came to ask me what I was doing.. . . . well, sort of. . . . after a few preliminary questions, he wanted to know if I was married, or more specifically, if I want a little gay thing with him. . . . and this time I had to run for my life. . . .

Well, it sounds like the "American Frontier" tried its hardest to prevent it from happening.

Well, the Mormons were treated better than the Cherokees or the Sioux, for sure.

Governor Lilburn Boggs did issue an extermination order in Missouri, and there were some other issues at Nauvoo, but in that day and age, it was common hospitality for a minister or pastor to open up the local church for itinerant preachers of any kind. . . .. maybe a sort of local freak show in some respects. . . . but the LDS missionaries were fed and listened to on a regular basis wherever they wandered.

President Buchanan went down in history for "Buchanan's Blunder" as a pretty stupid incompetent, and not as a hero who vanquished the Mormons.

It is comforting to think that someone will meet you when you die, or that someone will be there for your babies or loved ones when they go before you.

I always wonder if those who die harsh deaths, like murder, will be instantly at peace about the way they die or if they will have to get "counseling" or be comforted about it.

I like the kind of "counseling" that is available there. They walk you around and show you things that help you address your issues.

My little nephew who was in a coma for two months says he had some awesome dreams of a wonderful place, and how there were all kinds of people there who cared about him.

spiritual matter?

intelligence?

As I understand his thinking, truth is woven right into all the math. . . . the math that in essence defines you as well as the math that in essence defines the universe. . . . It's just "there" for you, if you'll let it "be there".

I think he also accepts that we and maybe other things have some underlying spiritual existence which we can't normally probe, test, or prove with our gizmos and tools of science.

As for "intelligence", we all have to laugh sometimes at the idea it describes, say, someone we know. . . . well, like Obama for example, the little marxist ideologue who licks the boots of the bankers and who has reduced the earnings of blacks, women and minorities more than any other American President has ever done, while saddling "the people" with trillions of dollars of debt, while just handing over some trillions to shore up the big banks, no questions asked.

Yep, his golf game really makes him one with people.

spiritual matter?

intelligence?

The Mormon doctrine is pretty sketchy, stemming from a very small set of speeches or scriptures, relatively speaking, say to who Jesus is.

"all spirit is matter, only". . . . in some manner. . . . different from what we normally see. . ..

"intelligence", which I take to be the comprehending element of human nature, is supposed to be eternal, so much so that a smart fellow like Lucifer can be cast into the vortex of a black hole, and come out the other side shorn of past deeds and maybe memory, and be a candidate for spiritual adoption by some new and naive "God" building his family. . . .

It seems to me that there might be some very huge possible improvements in the way things are done in regard to salvage of the elements and the way we work with them. . . .. or the way God works with them. . . .

I've had one specific irrational thing occur that I can't deny the existence of things not seen...God...angels...spirits...something that listens and responds.
When doubts creep up I always go back to this one thing...and other less obvious things.

Does anyone truly understand all the ideology they choose to embrace...don't people fall along a spectrum of understanding. Even with science...you can't be an expert in all fields...people in different fields come to different conclusions...interpretation of data is different...there are different motives behind accepting or rejecting truth.

The thing I've noticed is people giving up everything when one aspect doesn't make sense at a certain point....

"Ideology" is inherently a limited. . . . I'd say even a stupefying. . . . set of notions that may be intoxicating in the sense of conferring delusions upon those who embrace it. . . . Can we really seriously believe our little minds can take it all in and make sense of everything in the right light????

So here's bit of "ideology" that is commonly taken for Christian faith/doctrine that is actually an open system of belief, at least axiomatically. . . . The Holy Ghost can lead us to the truth, and guide our minds somehow/ / / /

This theory/ ideology means we are given a way to receive necessary information in a time of need, straight from God, or the Master Wave Equation, I suppose.

So here we are enmeshed in all the Universe is, and sensing somehow the truth of it all.

OK, so I'll take this in parts to respond a little more. . . ..

When I was in the Philippines there was a situation where I became a friend to an older lady missionary. The "sisters" as we called them had a housegirl who could cook, and they invited us over for a cooked meal, and a little "gospel study time" together in the mornings. During that time I got very sick and was moved into their apartment where the older lady who was a nurse could take care of me. She was a widow, and became a sort of advocate for me, trying to disabuse the mission president from some false notions he had about me. . . . she figured out what made me tick, so to speak, and found some reason to respect me as well as to treat me like a close friend.

She took an occasion to tell me the story about when her husband died in a devastatingly horrible head-on collision with a Semi, and how after a while, while she was in a state of total grief, her husband came to her, as a complete person of spirit, and told her he was OK and showed some kindness and compassion for her in telling her to please go on with her life and do some good for people.

I found her story credible and within the familiar reality of my existence.

How can we tell anyone who has not had such an experience anything at all about the unseen world. There's no way we can really make the connection for them. It has to come on their own terms, in their own time and way, if it ever comes. It just wouldn't compute even if God himself came to talk to a disbeliever, he'd call it some evil freak of neurology that he thought it happened, and spend the rest of his life doubting his own senses. No, only people who believe in God to some extent and who are willing to actually take it in as real can benefit from experiences of this class.

Heard that Kerry told Rodman that he should stick to basketball. I don't see the harm in it. Especially since the diplomats have gotten nowhere with North Korea.

It's only been about a year since stoked wrote this. My how time has flown.

At this point, it looks like Kerry was right. And Rodman has checked into rehab, possibly out of fear he's on the hit list, too. A hundred bucks says he slipped out the back door and went into some kind of FBI protection program, and has ten armed guards, no tatoos and no flashy pants.

*dinodollars in Hannah's account. That's right, don't ask.

This morning, while showering, I glanced over at the myriad products my wife uses. One has a label that says "100% PURE", but due to some letters being obscured by the shelf/holder it appeared to say "100% PUKE".

That is all.

happens all the time.

and that's not all, either.

Rodman, arguably if improbably, has learned the lesson of the ages. The life span of a court jester is shorter than that of a capital criminal, because while ordinary criminals can be tolerated in their dungeons, the jester whose joke falls flat and is mistaken as an insult will be beheaded the next day.

Totalitarian regimes are a phenomenon of the secular "humanist" age. Despots whose power is absolute can tolerate no other "shining lights" of public focus, precisely for the reason why they require idolatrous adulation in their national media. There can be no "other" significant personages, because an idolatrous populace mistakes public recognition for government power.

And every totalitarian dictator must be suspicious of anyone who gets any attention. . . . .

The reason for this is as simple as it is obvious.

Before "secular humanism" became so prevalent, kings and governments had to appeal to some religion for validation, which meant the honchos had to profess some kind of decent virtue to impress the peasants. And before religions became so prevalent, the heads of clans had to pretend to be members in good standing of some tribal tradition. It is only the modern "secular humanist" that can claim absolute and unquestioned authority. . . . every precedent in history prior to this age had some kind of cultural context even the kings couldn't abrogate with impunity.

reminds me of my namesake movie, Babe, where the narrator portends the machinations of the cat: "Beware the cat bearing a grudge" suggests a corollary "Beware the secular humanist bearing an opinion". And the voice of the Shadow. . . . with the sinister laugh. . . . "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of man?" the very definition of evil is a state of unchecked purpose not answerable to public scrutiny. And that, folks, is the essence, the heart, of that philosophy falsely labeled "secular humanism". It does indeed place man at the pinnacle of power in the cosmos. . . .. but not all men equally. . . . in fact it must resolve itself into placing one man at that pinnacle. . . which is the final revelation of totalitarian authority.

and it is looking more and more like Obama has gone down that road and imagines himself to be that One.
