They can be. The question is "does the FO want them to be?"
I certainly think that they do. I feel that this was a one and done type of year. The Jazz may not be a playoff team next year but they will be a 9th or 10th seed with 40ish wins.

This kind of cherry picking is inviting a Corbin>Sloan alt. With the Sloan worship here as high as possible....

Team Hayward vs. Team Jefferson.
They should battle this out via three point shooting contest.
I agree with this...and it also makes me think that Stockton could be a good coach as well. Hornacek and Stockton are both very similar in that they both weren't very athletic but were always smarter than their opponents and figured out ways to gain an advantage over their opponents despite being at a physical disadvantage.
I do agree with this. I don't think we are much better next year. This draft is full of potential...but the only player that can come in and lift a franchise immediately is probably Parker. Everyone else will be amazing...in a couple of years.
While I think making the playoffs may be difficult, I do think the Jazz will be a LOT better next season.
1. Burks role was very limited early on.
2. Took 20% of the season before Jazz had even NBA fringe PG's.
3. Hayward having his worst season. Gordon with even an "average" season probably adds 5 wins to our total this year.
4. New coach. Regardless of whether Corbin is or is not competent, it's clear the team is not responding to him and has just given up. Add 5 wins just by having the team compete every game.
5. Continued growth of young players.
6. Better bench
7. FA's. Jazz WILL have money to spend on 1-2 FA's. I expect DL to bring in a starter to replace Williams or Jefferson. Maybe even both, with the draft pick(s) coming off the bench.
I expect the Jazz to be "close enough" to .500 next season. Probably not good enough for the playoffs (8 WC playoff teams this season will be around .600 - 48/49 wins). So another lottery year next season, but in the 13/14 range.
Someone seems to have trouble reading and comprehending posts it seems.
I have never said I think Ty is a fantastic basketball mind nor that he should continue on ad infinitum as HC of the team.
Nor have I said he is terrible and should be canned or spout Corbin hate constantly like many of you posters.
Groupthink, bandwagons, and pitchforks with torches are not a good combination imo.
I don't see things the way you do and think it's absurd to ooze the Corbin disdain that has supersaturated your body.
I think almost any other NBA coach option would have had very close to the same results Corbin has had given the situations he was put in.
The only coach I actually wanted and saw as a good option was Hornacek but timing and the situation didn't work out that way.
I honestly don't see any other coaches out there that are the obvious choice to take the Jazz to "the promised land", so I see now reason to disrespect Corbin or throw him to the curb. I also think many people out of blind passion to fire Corbin refuse to see any of the good he does for the team or the players.
Continue to say what you want, but I think the constant calling for Corbin to be fired or just out of here is pretty pathetic.
Cherry picking? Sure it is.
I still think i could have coached this team to those 2 wins against horrible team though so what i think what i said is still true

Here is the dilemma:
I think with a top 5 pick, the Jazz can get back to the playoffs really quickly.
BUT, if they want to compete and WIN titles, then need another top 5 pick.
So, do you go back to the Deron days and try to win now, or do you go back to the Stockton/Malone days, when you had a shot to win it all?
Triangleman, you have to understand the mentality behind the pitchfork crowd. These fans don't know the first thing about x's and o's, idolize good coaches as some sort of gods who work miracles to cover up player deficiencies, while overvaluing the talent on their team and downplaying the greatness of the players under these great coaches -- Thibs has always had elite defenders yet they give Thibs all the credit and none to the players...
I get why the outrage, I do, even if it is all baseless, disproved, hyperbolic nonsense. When you place coaches on that high of a pedestal you're going to loathe any result that doesn't live up to your fantastic expectations, no matter how outlandish they are. That's exactly what happened with Corbin.
