You'll have to go back much further than that. Reagan screwed things up so bad that we are still suffering. Suffering from the failed trickle down economics (Aka, Voodoo economics), tax cuts which lead to huge deficits, the unsustainable defense spending, the privatization of our health care system, and the radical beefing up of the power executive branch. Literally, everything the right accuses Obama of doing (executive orders, taking away freedoms, buying off voters with phones, hiding conspiracies) Reagan did.

Truly, the last great president we had was probably LBJ. But even he had a huge black eye in the form of the Vietnam War. So maybe Eisenhower? FDR? TEDDY???

Clinton

I think he just stayed out of the way and that enabled him to not screw things up. An "If everything is working why mess with it" type approach.

Ya i agree.
No wars, no risky policies, the economy was doing good. He was charming.

Other than lewinskigate he didnt have any blemishes during his rule.

There's hardly any difference in Bush and Obama, just the letter behind the name.

Both allowed for too much spending, both allowed for too much government, and both allowed for the loss of personal liberty.

Is he has bad as a lot of the right wants us to think he is? No. Is he as good as most of the left wants us to think he is? No. Personally, I view him as below average, but that's just me. All presidents are pretty much the same anymore anyways, doesn't matter which party they're running for.

Odd, that doesn't happen to me. I wonder why that is?

Obama was good for the social safety net, OK for the economy and foreign affairs, and really, really bad for personal liberties. Overall, a B, I guess.

Obama compounded our social safety net issues with Obamacare. If he fixed social security, and put in at least some checks on moral hazard into his h.c. law, then I would have given him a pretty solid grade (especially in the hostile environment he had to work in).

But he kicked the can down the road so I'm not grading him.

I like obama.

Hated bush

They are so similar policy wise. I dislike Obamas presidency for many of the same reasons I disliked Bushs.

@liberals Bush didn't use drones to kill US citizens Obama did. Patriot act alive and kickin. Huge expansion of spying on US citizens. He has a death list!

@conservatives. Bush bailed out the banks sure Obama runs huge deficits but Bush turned a surplus into huge deficits. The largest expansion of medicare ever at the time was bushes medicare part d prescription coverage.

The largest difference between them is rhetorical and yeah I prefer Obama in this regard but it is a superficial difference.

Tbh most of the reason i didnt like bush is because he sounded so dumb so often.
I felt like if bush and i took SAT and ACT tests that i would score higher than him.

Now thats probably not true since im sure he went to college and i would think that he would be pretty smart to be president of this country..... but listening to him talk, he sounded very dumb

Bush went to Yale and Harvard…

While he didn't get the best grades, he was and is, an intelligent man.

His speaking certainly wasn't the best in the world, but at least he knew how many states we have.

;)

He's obviously a very smart man, not a great public speaker, kind of a goof, but much smarter than people gave him credit for.
He seems much more intelligent now that he is not president though, even in his interviews now he seems much more comfortable and on the ball.

People think that the President has a larger impact on the current economy than he or well he I guess has. Look at demographics and both the good economy of the nineties and the poorer one now are obvious. Coupled with a huge leap forward in technology in the nineties it's hard to see how the economy could have been bad.

Boomers were in their most productive years and they were also at the age at which people tend to spend the most. Now they are less productive and are at the age when saving for retirement and being frugal is always on their minds. I don't see how any president can control that.

Blaming/supporting a president for the entirety of the economy is kind of like blaming a president for the gas prices. There are little things they can do to help it, but overall, not very much.

I don't know the guy, but his entire presidency screamed little kid playing with an ant farm being told to clean his room. I just have a hard time justifying the way he left the country and "intelligent".

Right…and the guy who said that we had 57 states is so much more "intelligent".

If only we had almost every single word we speak as public record, and all of it taken literally and likely out of context. The great "quotes" we would get attributed to us.

Hardly any difference?

Do you honestly think Bush would have pushed for health care reform?
Do you think Bush would have allowed his tax cuts to expire?
Do you think Bush would have cut deficit spending? In particular, defense?
Do you think Bush wouldn't have jumped at the opportunity to become (more) involved in the Arab Spring?

those are the top 4 things that Obama has passed/done and been most criticized by the right for.

If there isn't any difference between Bush and Obama, then why does the right claim that he's the most "liberal" President ever? A President who is looking to revolutionize this country? Why did they elect Bush (twice) if he were passing a socialist agenda?

Either the right likes socialism, as long as it's a republican in charge. Or Obama really isn't like Bush. You can't have it both ways.
