How come AK isn't given any slack?

He's avg. 41%. Not great but not terrible. He was 2-2 from behind the arc last night by the way. His 3pt% is higher than Miles's. DWill went ice cold from the three for a few games, should he quit shooting?

The truth is AK is overpaid. So what, there is nothing that can be done about that, but why all the hate. If you ignore what he makes and judge him solely by how he has played this year you have to conclude he has been fantastic. Yes he's had a couple of bad games, so has Deron. Give the guy a break.

The hyperbole is beyond ludicrous speed.
 
BTW, Bryant and Durrant are averaging 43.8 and 42.3% respectively. I'm not saying AK is a better shooter, or that he is an equal offensive threat. You brought up percentages though, so it bears consideration.

How often is AK called on to take shots when the offense breaks down? To end quarters/games? To win games?

AK is given loads of room to shoot J's and slash to the basket, FAR MORE than Kevin Durrant and Kobe, and he should be capitalizing on his opportunities. The comparison is not a good one.

My point is that we have to consider respective roles in the offense. The comparison was geared to show the problem with your simple citation of fg% in 16 games or whatever.
 
One of AK's biggest problems with being consistent is that he doesn't have a go to shot. Teams slack off of him so he ends up being an inconsistent jump shooter. I agree that he may be a better 4 than a 3, but a 4 needs to be able to post-up and AK has no inside moves besides flaying his arms and hoping the ref bails him out. I think people who praise him for for having a descent game once in a while forget HE IS A MAX PLAYER! He definitely should be averaging more than 12 points a game. Giving AK a max contract is the worse contract in Jazz history.

We had two or three oops a game last season, especially at home, with Miles, Ak Brewer, etc.

People stuck on this "max player" garbage...give me a break. Worst in Jazz history? It's certainly overpriced, but the worst? You must be a young fellow like me to be so short-sighted.

These considerations hurt AK IMO. His role is to hit wide open shots and slash to the basket for layups. Kobe and KD would absolutely kill if they only had to hit the shots AK is asked to hit.
