What's new

The Lakers, Kevin Love and the Utah Jazz

No. Head to realgm where most of the best post for each team. You will see an extreme overvaluing of Kanter on this board. Manesh on the Jazz board is extremely insightful.
I always found Realgm to be a wasteland. It was embarrassingly bad at one time. It's been a couple of years since I lasted visited, though. Maybe the quality has gone up.

Kanter sucks and is a huge bust and hardly has any trade value plus you think Minny going throw in Chase too?? You people overvalue Kanter soooo much. He cant even start for your crappy team

Go back to your racist message boards in colorado where that is okay to call people.

JK but for reals I am glad you post since your opinion is so well respected and has change the minds of all of us for the better.

I'm not sure if this particular writer believes in rondo or not, but I get the feeling the celtics will trade him for more assets as soon as they can.

If the C's and timberpups trade Love for Rondo and a bunch of picks, I think that leaves the C's enough room to sign Gordy Hayward to a max deal.

I wish it were possible to get Josh Smith and Raggin' Rondo on the same team. The trouble with every team in the league trying to play Spurs style money ball is that nothing crazy like this happens anymore.

Have you seen the rosters in Brooklyn and New York? Both teams trying to buy a championship and one-up each other while pretty much ignoring the salary cap. Houston also to a lesser degree. Crazy stuff like that happens all the time. Rudy Gay and Joe Johnson were both traded within the past year despite damn-near untradeable contracts. Just because the Jazz don't make rash and unwise decisions doesn't mean that other teams follow suit.

Do you have. Link to anyone not on this board or paid by the Jazz who views Kanter as a potential All Star?

The draft express profile was written years ago. I want a link of a recent source who is outside of Jazz land, who thinks Kanter can be an All Star after what he's shown the last three years.

I don't think anyone would give up Randle for Kanter straight up. I might be wrong, but I haven't seen anything that says anyone thinks Kanter will be an All Star or he is worth a top 10 pick.

There is no evidence to suggest a pending trade. When considering trades, you have to think about your situation, the other team's situation, the worth of who and what you are trading, how the other team will perceive that worth, and what your targeted outcome is. Kanter and Burks have far more value to our organization than they do to another's. We'vee seen them progressing, and we knew they were projects. The rest of the league likely sees them as unproven players on the last year of their rookie contracts, which wouldn't net much in a trade.

Our only real trade assets from the player side of things is someone like Favors, because he was our most efficient player this year (when I've pointed this out before, you've assumed I'm saying thus he'll be traded), or someone like Trey who is in the first year of his rookie contract and had a solid year, or someone like Gobert who many other coaches have commented on liking (and is in his first year). Players like Hayward, Kanter, and Burks aren't appealing trade assets right now. Hayward will be once again if we end up inking him, and Burks could be too if we extend him this summer after considers his solid campaign this year. Kanter was up and down, but finished strong, but is also far away from his long term value. Selling low is never a good business sttrategy.

They all could be traded at some point.

I think you missed this post I addressed to Vermin, but it applies to your question as well.

But, if 1280 would ever get their audio to work, JVG gives high praise to Kanter in this interview from Feb. this year (when he was still struggling)

A condensed answer is likely a no, which is why we couldn't trade him yet. Selling low is stupid. Jazz let Al and Paul walk (two actual/fringe all-stars) to let Derrick and Enes play, I doubt they're scared after one season under a less than ideal situation, or that they did it so they could acquire a rookie with a similar skillset and some inferior vets in the twilight of their careers.

Is there anyone not on this board that had Kanter pegged as an All Star?

Lots of people don't think Kanter will be much of a player.

A better question is who doesn't think Burke will be a top 15 PG in the future?

Orange - I won't argue that. My whole point is, we have a pretty good idea what Kanter and Burks are. Big improvements at this point aren't likely. If I can turn Kanter and Burks into good vets with lots of leadership who haven't lost, another top 5 pick and cap space...I'm doing that deal.

Kanter is still expected to make big improvements. Given his unique situation, and our team circumstance since he was drafted, the a player is who they are by year four hardly applies. Big men develop more slowly on average anyways. Given Kanter's basketball experience and hours put in since starting to play, he is still well below that 10k hour mark that most players hit and thus plateua after their fourth year in the league (which is one more season for Burks, so even he has more to prove). Neither of these players are done showing us who they are yet, and especially not Kanter. Kanter has only begun to scratch the surface. After his fifth or sixth year you could probably say he is done taking big leaps. Favors and Hayward are likely mostly done though. I could see the Jazz entertaining trades for him after next season though if they don't like his trajectory by then, and they ink him to something reasonable, or if he were to be beastly before the trade deadline, but they decided they still wanted to go in a different direction. Right now though, his trade value is too low.

Getting back to the topic:

Warriors are jonesing for Love. But they don't want to give up Klay. Their offer is allegedly Lee, Barnes and their 2015 pick. However, I didn't think they could offer their 2015 pick since they traded away this year's #1. Maybe they'd have to buy another one. Hope the TWolves hold out for more. Lee is an old man, Barnes doesn't have #7 pick value and any GS pick will be late 1st. I think Love is worth way more than that.
