Aaron Gordon, a No. 5 Pick?

The more I read about the kid and hear from him the more I like him.

I've been behind him for about 4 days straight now, new record for this draft. If there is no way I land a top 3 I want him at 5. I think he can become on of the best of this class, with a chance at overtaking one of the top 3 in overall game.

People are talking about his 70% finishing and that definitely isn't just his athleticism. Can't do that without touch. Good sign.

Except he didn't use that touch much.

Are you talking about his role? That was on the coach, and the situation he chose to be a part of. The kid is a winner, and likes to win. He chose to go to an elite college team that had championship aspirations, even though it meant he wouldn't be featured. What he got offensively was from the flow of the game, w/o things being drawn up for him. I see this as a positive, because it shows how much he helps his team, and still how impactful he was on the crammed college floor. W/ his all around skill set, top tier athleticism, the superior floor spacing in the NBA, his improving shooting stroke, and natural development, it is easy to see him becoming that go-to scorer in a few years.

If he doesn't, he still has a ton of skills that will set him apart in the NBA.

Wow. That would be rad. But I dunno if he'll go that far. But same can be said for Wiggins. Jabari I think will be a go-to scorer but suck at D.

I'm liking gambling on Gordon more and more. I can't believe I'm saying that.

I changed my mind and prefer A Gordon than anyone outside the top-3 now. Would be nice if we can trade down and get extra. Fine to take him at 5 though.

Aaron Gordon talks about working out for us in his own words:

Also noticed that he is down at P3, 'round the same time that members of our team were down there. Wonder if they met, and if they liked each other.

If Gordon is there at #5, he is my guy. I am not worried about his shooting. I think he is going to work his butt off to get better. I am worried he goes to Orlando and blows up and they take him at 4. Yea, I know I am paranoid. I think out of all the guys in the rest of the lottery excluding the top 4 or 3 he has the best chance of being a star.

I still feel like it would be a reach for Gordon at #5, but I wouldn't be mad with the pick. It'd be pretty exciting.

How is it a reach? His athleticism is on par w/ Wiggins, and he has a ton of important skills Wiggins doesn't have (passing & handles). The separator is shooting (which Wiggins isn't lights out at), but if A. Gordon is really improving his shot (which is what has been reported from those who've seen the workouts), isn't no. 5 incredible value?

If you believe he can't ever shoot, 5 is a reach, but if you believe he can, how is he not more appealing than Smart, Vonleh, or Randle?

terrific post

And Wiggins is no go-to scoring alpha dog either. There's a lot to like about Gordon. I can't believe the 180 I've done on him.

I've gotta say the more I hear about Gordon and the more I read your guys posts about him, the more I like. Originally I didn't really want him because we need a scorer, but the odds are very unlikely that we somehow get Jabari, so he's beginning to be my pick. I like his confidence and attitude too
