Rumor: Jazz willing to trade Burks to move up into top-3

Whichever trade-up scenario you choose, it's a gamble. You really can't be sure how these guys will turn out. But you know the old saying: "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." And I think it definitely applies here. I'd rather stand pat because we know what we got, plus we get another pick who could be just as good or better than Parker. We need to play out this season and see who is really better, Hayward or Burks, and then make the trade.

Guys, Ernie meanie's moms phone number is: 801-282-8097. Call and complain about his crappy posting a few times. Maybe you can get Corbin fired too.

I think you only even begin to discuss including Burks in a package with #5 if you're talking to the Cavs for #1. Or if you're assembling a completely different package to obtain an ADDITIONAL top-10 pick in this draft.

I don't think there is a single team out there who views burks as highly as you must. He is viewed as a competent backup with a ceiling of jamaal Crawford if he is lucky. Probably not worth a top ten pick, and certainly not with the jazz missing out on being in the top three.

The nice thing about trading with the bucks is that you could see them doing the trade for only picks and the option of dumping a player or two on us...

#5, GS 2017, our top three protected 2015 1st round pick and us taking on either Mayo, Zaza or Ilyasovia

That's

Burke
Hayward
Parker
Kanter
Favors

With a bench of Burks, the Bucks player and Gobert...

Get it done DL

That's perfect if there's not another team that views Burks that highly because then including a different player shouldn't be a big deal. Burks is simply the closest thing to a keeper on this team and the Jazz have other interesting pieces and cap space to absorb bad salary. I'd hate to give up a guy that might by himself be better than whoever the Jazz end up getting (because there are still no sure-things in this draft). Also, I said include him in a PACKAGE for that theoretical additional top-10 pick.

But then again, I'm not totally sold on Burks either. But right now, he is clearly the most impactful player on this team.

Completely agree.

Very good point. And Milwaukee still gets their choice of maybe exum, vonleh, gordon, etc.

Jabari Parker is the next Rudy Gay

Make of that what you will

Rudy Gay has excellent lateral movement as well as his ability to defend elite SF's. I'm sorry I just don't see that with Jabari Parker, can he score? No doubt but he will be a liability on defense trying to guard NBA small forwards.

If the price is right we have to get him, but we cannot afford to jeopardize our future for one player. Especially when that player has such a glaring deficiency.

Whether true or not I don't think this is anything more than a guy speculating.
jazz never tip their hand.. unless DL has changed the philosophy.

Thanks Tyrone, you &^%$#@@!
Burks SHOULD have been a starter. He would then have >>>>>>>>>>> value. Instead Ty helped RJ likely get another deal with some other team. You were a damn fine humanitarian, Corbin. Probably because you were a journeyman yourself.

Here's where I don't blame Ty I blame the front office. Ty was trying to save his job not develop talent. The FO should have had a clear plan of what they were trying to do with the season and had everybody on board from ownership to GM to coaches to players to fans.

Lindsey unequivocally said, before the season started, that Ty would not be evaluated based on wins and losses. He said he would be evaluated based on player development and defensive improvement.
Seems a fairly clear plan to me. Even the casual fan took that to mean "dude, either develop the young guys and improve the defense or you are a goner and we will go get Quin to clean up your mess"

Yep. And the only way DL could have interceded would have been to tell Ty he had job security IF he benched RJ and Marvin and started the "core5." With the Millers having their hands in the pot, the ONLY way Lindsey was going to be able to get rid of Ty was to have him hang himself with his own rope. And Ty did that. Lindsey could then step back and tell Greg and Gail that Ty had complete freedom and led Utah to the worst defensive rating while underachieving on the development side.

On the bright side, we SHOULD be arguing over who the Jazz will be taking in the 10-12 range instead of who is the likeliest all-star to be had at #5.

It definitely makes sense as it would be a tough summer to sign Hayward and extension for Burks and Kanter. Utah would be investing a lot of money and cap room in still unknown entities. Including Burks in the trade would be taking 1 step back for possibly 2 steps forward. Although part of me likes Burks over Hayward, especially that Hayward could also leave in free agency. So, worst case scenario is that Jazz lose both Burks and Hayward.
