2011 NBA Draft revisited...

In the spirit of draft time, just for the hell of it, I was looking back at the last time we had a top 5 pick in the draft (2011) and how our #3 pick Enes Kanter compares to other players in that draft today. Overall, a pretty sad/weak draft. Based on production here's how I see where those players rank today:

1. Kyrie Irving
2. Kawhi Leonard
3. Klay Thompson
4. Chandler Parsons
5. Nikola Vucevic
6. Isaiah Thomas
7. Kemba Walker
8. Brandon Knight
9. Kenneth Faried
10. Alec Burks
11. Enes Kanter
12. Markieff Morris
13. Tristan Thompson
14. Jonas Valanciunas
15. Derrick Williams
16. Iman Shumpert
Everyone else: Scrubs

Going into that draft, Irvin, Williams and Kanter were the consensus top 3. Only Irving lived up to the hype. Williams is a bust, and Kanter is still learning to play the game.
Thoughts?

Not far off, but I'd probably have Faried and Valanciuns rated higher. KF was a beast his first two seasons and Jonas started to figure things out this season pretty well. Everything else looks pretty good though.

The biggest surprises out of these group are Parsons, Vucevic, Thomas and Leonard. They really performed more than scouts were hoping. I do not like Knight at all in this list. So mediocre PG who shots more than anyone in the league with less efficiency. This year can change the ranking too. So important year for Kanter and Burks.

Jut curious but how long is it going be said that" Kanter is still learning the game"??At this point what you see is what you get. Players do get better and higher bball iq as they become older but this Kanter I still learning the game is crap. Also Faried at 9 is a joke. Parsons is a solid player but ranked to high.imo

Kenneth Faried is one of the most overrated players in modern memory.
He hustles, plays with heart and put up decent numbers without having a huge ego. Is Faried top 10 at his postion? Nope but to say he is overrated. He has crushed your Jazz pick in the same. Think any GM would now take Kanter over Faried?

We should have traded back tbh...

Turn that 3 pick into two late lottery picks. Klay Thompson and Kawhi Leonard..

Doh!

LOL at Valanciunas rank when he killed Kanter in head to head matchups this season, has better PER and overall is much more valuable player than Thompson, Vucevic, Farried or Parsons. Valanciunas is arguably best center from that group. Vucevic may have nice offensive stats playing for horrible team but he plays no defense whatsoever. Same with Kanter except he shoots and rebounds the worst from all of them.

I would do it this way:

1. Irwing
2. Kawhi Leonard
3. Valanciunas
4. Klay Thompson
5. Parsons
6. Nicola Vucevic.
7. Walker
8. Farried
9.T.Thompson
10. Kanter.

Rest does not matter.

I'm not sure, what postion do you think he plays?

Manimal and Kemba are top 5.

Kanter going at 11 would affect the acceleration of his development. If he was picked by the Warriors, he would see more of the floor and can turn into a starter rightaway, with the Warriors living that lockout season with a 23-43 record, it'd be pretty much like Jonas. But that would have different effects like Kanter not trying to lose weight or smth. I dunno. The butterfly effect after all.

U gotta give credit Vucevic more for being a double double man nearly in his all matches. Perfect rebounder, has got lots of offensive weapons (Midrange game, hooks from either hands, put backs etc) His post up defense is good due to his size but PnR needs some work. Valanciunas at 3 in this list? U really make him overrated then. Also, playing dominant against Kanter does not make him better player. Kanter has got lots of flaws on defense and same goes for Valanciunas on offense. His only weapon is PnR and offensive rebounds. Even though he's got more experience till now (Playing in Euroleague), he does not show promising future for his offense.
