Serious question here for GVC or Kenwood (or anyone else who knows). IF LBJ were to sign a short-term deal (say 2 years), could Cleveland then award him the same type of massive 5-year contract that he could now receive in Miami? Seems to me that would be the way to go if you want to go to a different team. Take a hit for 1-2 years (and you obviously buy insurance), then you get the 5-year MAX deal.
They can't offer him a 5-year contract if they give Irving one. Each team gets only one. I'm not sure how old he is either, but there's some rule that teams can't give 5-year contracts out once a player is a certain age (like 35 or something).
