What's new

What in the name of Cleveland is going on?

Serious question here for GVC or Kenwood (or anyone else who knows). IF LBJ were to sign a short-term deal (say 2 years), could Cleveland then award him the same type of massive 5-year contract that he could now receive in Miami? Seems to me that would be the way to go if you want to go to a different team. Take a hit for 1-2 years (and you obviously buy insurance), then you get the 5-year MAX deal.

They can't offer him a 5-year contract if they give Irving one. Each team gets only one. I'm not sure how old he is either, but there's some rule that teams can't give 5-year contracts out once a player is a certain age (like 35 or something).

Ah...so two players now have to take a hit if another scenario arises like the Bosh/Wade/James scenario? The main concern, though, is with the percentage increases one is allowed to make as a team retaining a player vs. going elsewhere as a free agent. Do those percentages change the next time a player is eligible for a contract? For example LBJ signs a 2yr deal, then signs a 3 year deal after that (now it's the same number of years (5) in total).

I read Gilbert likes Wiggins but the GM likes likes Parker. No wonder the franchise is in the gutter, you have an owner who is actively participating and influencing all their decisions.

I'd intervene too if my management pushed me off of Oladipo last year in favor of Bennett

What it tells me is that the Cavs really, really want to trade down. If they were locked in on a prospect, they wouldn't be going through the madness. Instead, they're desperate to acquire as many assets that can help them 'win now' or entice Lebron back - simple as that.

This is right. The fact that they want to see Exum means they want seriously consider trading down.

Lindsay should let the Cavs know if they don't take the trade offer, that they will do everything they can to help Lebron go to any other team. Let them know you have cap space and will use it to absorb salary from Okc, Houston, New York, Chicago. Or give Cleveland the salary room they would need to fit him. They could send you Anthony Thomas and Jarrett Jack. Maybe you could scare them into it? muahhahaha!

I wouldn't be surprised if this was a play to try and squeeze more out of Utah. They are trying to make the Jazz think they are more interested in a different offer, when in reality they like the Jazz offer best and are trying to make them panic into adding more.

(Sorry if this was already mentioned. Didn't see it)
