Utah vs. Boise in Las Vegas Bowl

I'll bet anyone on the planet that Utah doesn't finish in the top 3 in the FAP12.

They very well may not. But whether or not this scenario represents failure depends on your own individual bias. But for the U - the school and the football program - it is an upgrade regardless.

And now Alex Smith gets demoted. It pours.

Do you really think stuff like that bothers Ute fans? Does it bother you that John Beck has almost never gotten off the pine during his NFL career? If it does, you're a bigger jack-*** loser than I thought.

(which is something I conceed is entirely possible)

The Alex Smith thing only bothers me as a 49er fan. And not because I am loyal to him as a Ute. I just think he is a better option than Troy Smith.

You had cooled off there for a little while, Conan. But you're starting to creep back into trolling mode. Just gotta scratch that itch? It's looking a bit like that game was more important to you than to Utah's fans. But it's cool. We understand.

Merry Christmas.

The numbers are in, and Wednesday night's MAACO Bowl Las Vegas was the highest-rated ESPN Regional Television (ERT) bowl game telecast in history, ESPN announced.

Tenth-ranked Boise State's 26-3 victory over No. 19 Utah was the event's sixth consecutive sellout and the crowd of 41,923 was the second-biggest in the bowl's history and third-largest in Sam Boyd Stadium history. The matchup was equally popular nationally as it earned an average rating of 3.78 on ESPN. The previous high for an ERT bowl game was 3.03 for the Dec. 24, 2008, Sheraton Hawaii Bowl featuring Notre Dame against host Hawaii. Last year's MAACO Bowl Las Vegas earned a 2.58 rating for a game between BYU and Oregon State.

Only Salty would think that it's great that millions of viewers watched his Utes go down in flames.

I was going to post something very similar to that.

It's great the Utes showed the nation what the PAC-12 can expect next year.

I'm not a BYU fan... I'm not a "Fire the coach, blow up the program!" nutjob. I realize that Utah's defense just held Boise State to their season low. I also realize that most of those guys on defense will be back next year.

The problem with Utah was their non existent offense. And that can be expected when you go against a great defense like Boise's without your starting QB and left tackle.

So despite what BYU fans are trying to spin, any college football fan should already know that is not the offense they can expect to see out of Utah next year. Cain is a senior so that was his last game in a Utah uniform.

Nice to see Utah and Boise had the highest rated ESPN owned bowl ever. So much for that worldwide BYU fan base.

That last salvo really helped your average, by the way. 45 mentions of BYU in a mere 34 posts!

In all seriousness, though, I agree about the Utes defense. They were absolutely dominant for a quarter. If they can hold Boise to just 543 yards of offense and 23 first downs, it's hard to imagine that the PAC10 teams aren't quivering in their boots.

And there are plenty of articles showing that all the experts (or even morons- anyone at all) agree with you that Utah won't compete in the PAC 12?

Oh, I see... So some dumbass BYU fan thinks Utah won't compete in the PAC 12. I guess I better take that prediction as gospel. [/sarcasm]

Shouldn't you be out looking for another "Quest for Perfection" shirt?

Utah's going to be fine. The haters are pointing out the loss to Boise, the yards given up in the game by Utah, etc. and it really means what for 2011? Absolutely nothing. While the haters are dogging Utah for losing to Boise perhaps they should ask themselves this one question: How many teams in the Pac 10 this season were better than Boise? The obvious answer is 1 (Oregon) and maybe 2 with Stanford but I think you could debate that.

I will fully admit that if Utah started Pac12 playTODAY, they wouldn't finish in the top 3 as Trout oh so boldy predicted. With the QB and offensive issues this team currently have it wouldn't be pretty. Thank goodness that Utah has a recruiting season, spring ball, a full offseason for the coaches to go back to the drawing board, and all of fall camp before Utah takes the field again. But hey, us Ute fans shouldn't take any of that into account. Idiot BYU homers on this board say Utah is screwed, and there's now way they could be wrong. Right?

I have one of those shirts. It proudly serves as my ******** rag anytime I'm alone watching reruns of Xena: Warrior Princess.
