The play-by-play has it as a miss. Exum with 5 points (1-3 from 2, 1-4 from 3) and 1 assist at the half.
I'd like to see Exum do something other than raise or clap his hands calling for the ball when he's playing the 2. This is a good opportunity for him to learn how to play off-ball. At this point, he's a lot better with the ball in his hands, and he did well the few times he tried to beat his man off the dribble.
I'm still liking what Motum brings to the table. Kinda crazy the Aussie bigs are so bad that they went with Motum against Val for a few minutes. How the hell is Aron Baynes in the NBA?
Val is a monster.15 points, 6 rebounds. He drew 6 fouls while committing none. Still figuring out how to play in the post, but the work he's done with Hakeem may pay off in the future.

I recently saw a video of Exum doing a 3pt shooting drill at the Nike hoop summit(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBdxq5KFAzA). He was dropping them pretty consistently. Possibly 70%. His stroke is not that bad really. He can be at least an OK shooter. To me it seems like he's just not in good game shape and that's affecting pretty much everything in his game.

And Rickey Green had nothing to fear from John Stockton in year #1 - and that was with Stockton actually having played college basketball. Problem with fans nowadays is they expect "one-and-dones" (and Exum isn't even that) to all come in and be instantly better than experienced NBA players. Newsflash: even Wiggins is going to struggle this season. Jazz got a raw prospect. Had they wanted a 14/7 player, they could have drafted Randle.
Unfortunately, the draft has changed. Fewer players have several years of college experience, more are drafted on potential. Personally, I think Hood might have better stats than Exum this season. But there is ZERO doubt in my mind Exum is going to be a top PG in the league. I saw enough "WOW" plays in SL to convince me. I also saw a player who is not in NBA shape and needs to work on his shooting. But some of that is related - fatigue affects shooting. On the other hand, I saw another player who has already had a full NBA season again struggle with his shot and look for his offense first. No doubt in my mind who is the future PG of the Jazz.

Right now his release is slow. When he has time to set his feet properly, his shot isn't that bad. When he's rushed, his shot is pretty ugly.

He just stands there calling for the ball.
I see alot different than you do ,when the ball is in Exum's hands he can make things happen and create better for himself ...than Delladova does or Trey Burke can .....Right now ,Exum is 19 and Delladova takes the ball and he makes all the Aussies look slower.
Aussies are going to have trouble against fast athletic guards..they play their fastest guy at the 3 pt line
One on one ,Exum would eat up Trey Burke similar to all the other fast PGs did last year.I don't want to see Kanter get all the blame on defense when the breakdown started when the opposing teams PG blew by Trey Burke
