What's new

Anyone else bummed with this Team ?

Not true.
Favors was aquired in a trade with new jersey
Hayward was aquired in trade with the Knicks
Burks was a #12 pick
Trey was aquired by way of trade
Im not sure how we got the #3 pick to get kanter but I think it was from the dwill trade.

Basically we didn't tank to get anyone on our entire roster other than exum

I always figured that trading the 3rd best player in team history for parts was the beginning of the "tank". Favors, Burks, Trey, Kanter, and Exum were all products or byproducts of that trade.

But even Exum needs to grow some balls and start playing some real basketball, instead of playing the "stand around the perimeter" style of basketball he's been playing.

Agreed. He's playing very shy, I understand the 'easing' him into the NBA approach, but not to the point where I haven't seen one single drive to the basket yet, without passing the ball out.

Our bench is what is really killing the Jazz. I think my eight grade basketball teams scored more in the second quarter than the Jazz bench. We have been buried too many times by our bench players. Our bench has three rookies, Booker and Gobert. A vet coming off the bench would really help stabilize the bench. I do think we are funner to watch this year, but I often wonder what are we trying to accomplish with our offense. We pass around the perimeter for no particular reason way too many times. I knew we weren't going to be world beaters, but this losing is bumming me out.

Nope.
Millsap, big al, randy foye, mo williams, favors, Hayward, devin Harris, marvin, josh howard, etc were all players aquired to win games and get into the playoffs (which we did)

Fighting for playoffs and wins is different than tanking imo

"Burke - being small with average foot speed makes it an up hill battle for him every night. His failure to improve his shooting is what really buries him though." OMG this is a guy we traded two first round draft picks for. The scouts ought to be flogged. This ranks right up there with the RGIII trade.

We didn't trade that much to get him. But what we did trade, the Twolves made the best of. Both of those guys are better than Trey this season.

You're saying we traded DWill in order to improve our chances to get into the playoffs?

People looked at our early season schedule and said we'd have trouble getting more than a few wins.

Here we are in the early part of the season and we've had trouble getting more than a few wins.

I think the team will have a stretch where we're all going to get excited again. But for now, because the team is performing as expected, everyone is jumping ship and calling for an outright tank job.

I'm disappointed that the team isn't exceeding my expectations. But I expected that they wouldn't.

I'm saying we traded dwill to avoid losing him for nothing you silly goose.

Getting some assets > than not imo (and the jazz opinion)

I love our startibg libeup minus Burke.

I do think Alec will end up as our 6th man/6th man award perenially.

Dante and Hood will be in the startibg lineup, abd one of Kanter or Favors will be gone, possibly both. I love Kanter, and think a pairing of him abd Gobert has a lot of potential because their games complete eavh others, but Gobert needs to continue developing (which he is), and Kanter will need to slim down even more (which I think he will with a healthy offseason) and improv his passing. Favors is easily our best player right now, but Rudy has potetial to be more dramatic and better. The two of them tajes dollars away from other team needs. Favors won't ever shoot the 3, and is likely the player he will always be by this point wrong time for the team, since we still suck, so its time to cash him in).

We need better shooters and perimeter defenders.

He played well the first few weeks. Since then it's been the same old meh Hayward.

The Sixers are tanking. Their roster is full of undrafted players and they are starting and playing those same guys. Nearly every player the Jazz is running out there is a lottery pick, or at least a first rounder. We didn't tank last season, and we aren't tanking this season either. We are playing the guys that we tanked to get... and they just suck.
Sorry, but you are completely wrong about the Sixers. Yes, Covington is a D-Leaguer and was undrafted. But MCW, Noel, McDaniels - all drafted. Wroten and Mbah a Moute were FA's or acquired in trades.

We're playing the guys we "tanked to get?" Umm, that would just be Exum. OK, throw in Hood since the GS trade really defined the rebuild. Last year was the first season we "tanked" by going young and not having a bench. We're essentially doing the same this season with a bench of rookies and sophs: Exum, Hood, Gobert, Ingles and Booker. Only Trevor is a veteran, with his BEST season two years ago at 8.4 pts in 25 mins/per. Detroit and New York have more experience on their benches. I'll concede Philly's is equally weak.

Kanter, Favors and Gobert were not acquired via "tanking." KOC tried to retool with the Deron trade and then by bringing in vets (Mo, Foye, etc.). The team was vying for the playoffs every season except the last one. Trey or Alec were acquired after just missing the playoffs (with KOC using an additional to trade up in Burke's case).

AS for the OP, I guess I'm a little disappointed. I really expected to see a 35 -win team. But I'm a fan. My expectations are probably always higher than reality. Some players have disappointed, some have been better than expected. Jazz have played a lot of close games. And they almost always make a run to get back in games when they've gotten down early. That's a positive sign. And, TBH, since we have had a few players who look like they may not be the answer at their positions, I won't be too upset if the Jazz are bad enough to get a top-5 pick.

I've been having a much better time rooting for the Jazz by not really posting here anymore.

I hear you brother. Many guys here tend to over-analyze everything and so I find myself paying attention to other things rather than just rooting for a Jazz win. But somehow I get back drawn in here for some reason.

There should be a PositiveAndThankfulJazzfanz.com page, with a shorter name of course, but you see what I mean..

We are close to last in the NBA in FG% and 3pt.%. That's especially bad considering Favors is 8th in the league and Kanter is 16th in FG%.

It would be boring as hell if everyone were positive and thankful. There's church for that. ;)

Are people really disappointed with what Favors has done this year? He has gotten better every single year. I don't think he has come close to peaking. While he is not warrior per se, I think we all knew he was the quite type the moment he got here.

Not disappointed by the losses as I think the guys are giving good effort and the coach is giving them every opportunity to develop and learn which is what we have been waiting for.If we had talent like OKC had with KD and Westbrook it may have been a quick rebuild instead we have to implement a system which I believe takes more time. Not to mention we're developing a young team in the western conference which is like going to MIT with a 2nd grade reading level.

Hayward's the weak link in my opinion. Not a big fan of paying max money to a player who will never be a 1st option in a contender, which should be the final objective. Hope we didn't dig ourselves too big of a hole with this. My hopes right now are on Exum, Hood and Gobert. We need to redefine our 'core' imo.

G-time in December: 39% FGs, 27% 3pt.
